Anybody have any new makeup products or new colors that they are loving?

I am new to Sheer Cover. I really like it! I tried the Clinique Superbalanced Powder makeup but its not as good for me as Sheer Cover.

It actually makes me look like I have good skin

Have you tried Bare Minerals? Is it similar?

I''m using purity - I got a trial from them, and I really like it!

It''s my first foray into mineral makeup, so I''m still learning how to apply without becoming shiny, but it feels fantastic on. It''s very light coverage.

I haven''t tried Bare Minerals. I think I will have to stick with Sheer Cover. It cost me £27 for the Clinique powder and I don''t like it. I let the woman at the stand put it on me and it looked good....just not as good as SC. I can''t afford to buy another one just incase its not right for me

What is this sheer cover and where do I get it? Oh, and how much does it cost? Please let me know in dollars if possible.

I usually do not wear anything, but powder. Recently I let a friend play make-over. I know, I know
20.gif
And she used foundation on me and I looked like I had perfect skin. I do not have anything like that and I am embarrassed to say it, but I have been drawing little X''s all over my face with concealer pen and rubbing that in to get a similar effect.

I recently bought Makeup Forever's HD Powder (it's transparent, not colored) after reading a great review. I love it! It keeps my face matte, makes my skin feel really smooth and lovely (even without foundation under it) and is transparent, so I don't have to worry about it looking cakey.

I got MAC face and body foundation for our wedding and LOVE it! The C1 color is perfect for winter and I think C2 will be great in the summer. I HATE foundation and this doesn''t feel like anything on my face, but makes it feel and look smooth and moisturized.

NARS lipstick in Red Lizard. The best.red.ever. Intense, perfect red.

bare Minerals is AWFUL. It has shine-y particles in it. I didn''t realize I resembled the nman from wizzard of Oz wearing it until somenone snapped my pic at work {when I last had a job

} and saw how irridescent it was.

If you are looking for a power-type make-up can I suggest Smashbox''s HALO?

I get all my makeup from Aromaleigh. It''s wonderful and they have every color under the sun. It''s the only foundation and powder that doesn''t leave a line on my extremely pale skin.

Bare Minerals foundation doesn''t have any shiny particles in it. You must have tried the feather light mineral veil. That has a little bit of sparklies, but it should hardly
show. The regular mineral veil is not sparklie at all. They do have some ''radiance'' face colors that do have a little sparkle so they should be used like a highlighter if
you are not fond of that look.

I have just tried Boots 7-intense face serum and after a few days I am liking how my skin looks. It''s about 20 bucks and available at Target. I was using the
WHINE face serum from philosophy but after a while it doesn''t do as much. Plus this is way cheaper. So far, so good.

I own Bare Minerals and feel it''s so-so. I have been wearing Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for the past two years and LOVE it. It provides protection, is oil-free and best of all it''s really light coverage.

I also really like Benefit cosmetics...their concealer for under eye darkness is wonderful. As is their cheek stains and the bronzer (one hot minute) are so fun and the color is very natural.

My new favorite is MAC lipstick in Sweetie. Looks perfect on cool tone/pale complexions. Brings out green eyes.

I''m going to have to try this..I''m quite pale and have green eyes. Thanks for the tip.

I switched from powder blush to cheek stain recently, and I love it! It looks so natural and pretty. I use Tarte''s Cheek Stain in Flushed and Benefit''s PosieTint.

I also just started using brow gel and brow powder recently to make my eyebrows even, and I love how that looks. I never thought so before, but now I definitely believe brows make your whole face.

I started using MAC products about a year ago and I love them! I especially love the Mineralize eyeshadows. They are sparkly so I apply with a light hand and a small brush but it really brings out my eyes and doesn''t crease as quickly as other eyeshadows I''ve tried.

NARS blush in Orgasm! Love it!

Any recommendation for loose powder which is of fine quality, doesn''t clog the pores and to be applied over foundation?

*sigh*

I used to LOVE Bare Minerals. It looked so pretty in photographs on the skin... and in real life, it was so natural. Plus, it had SPF 15 and was sooo easy to apply.

However, I started getting cystic acne from it. There's a small percentage of people who develop cystic acne from mineral foundations that contain bismuth oxychloride. The old foundations used to use ground up fish scales for that lovely iridescent effect. But now, many use bismuth oxychloride, which is much cheaper and gives the same effect...plus, it helps the powder "stick" to your skin. Problem is, it's not good for your skin and gives some people horrible acne.

This happened to me and I had to stop. It took 2-3 months for the cystic acne to go away and that in itself was a nightmare!!! But some people use it forever and it works well for them. I wish I were among them!

Oh - megeve, you asked about the best loose powders out there to set foundation.

These are my favorites:

1. For a luminous setting, MAC Prep & Prime loose powder does the trick. Does not look powdery.

2. My fav powder of all time is T. LeClerc powder in Banane. It is the Rolls Royce of loose powders. Light, airy and gives you a flawless finish. If you aren't used to powders, try the pressed powder in a compact but use it with a brush to set your foundation. This one is more matte.

3. A new powder I've tried recently that I love is Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder. They use it for Hollywood people - to set concealer under the eyes b/c it's so light and won't settle into any lines. It's supposed to diffuse the light and take away any circles. It's so finely milled, I use it all over for a sheer dusting of powder and it's really pretty and translucent.

4. Ben Nye is a good basic powder and cheap. You can get it in makeup pro shops or online.

5. Giorgio Armani's Micro-Fil powder is supposed to be great. I can't wait to try it. It's supposed to go with their Luminous Silk foundation, which I use sometimes. But I can't tear myself away from the T. LeClerc.

Makeupalley.com is a great site that has all the reviews for all the new products!

For loose powders, the trick is in application. MAC's stippling brush is great for a very sheer application. Dip the brush in the cap of the container, not directly into the powder (or it'll be too heavy)... tap and then swirl lightly or pat onto your face. Wait a few minutes after foundation has been applied so the oils and everything have a chance to settle in first! I would never use the puffs that come with the powders - they deposit the makeup way too heavily. Have fun!

Yep, makeup junkie here. And the funniest part is, DH hates it when I wear any!

Lancome sable eyebrow pencil. I've been filling in the insides of my eyebrows to create the full effect instead of the sparse scattered eyebrows I have there. Makes a huge difference on my face without being too dark or looking perfectly manicured. Huge impact!

Yeah, it''s a great shade, but it''s bright. Aside from that, another good color is Chanel''s Imaginaire Glossimer because it also brings out eyes, but is more subtle and is sheer. Aside from those, I mostly wear clear glossimers.

I only have one of the mineralized shadows and love it! Blends nicely.

Have you tried Urban Decay Primer Potion. It will keep your eyeshadow from creasing. You just put in on your lid and crease, not the top part by your eyebrows and not only will your makeup not crease, it'll stay on all day.

I second the T. LeClerc powder! It is great.

Check out my post above about Makeup Forever''s HD Powder. It''s transparent so you can wear it with any skin color or foundation. It makes my skin feel fantastic and look fantastic. You can get it at Sephora. It was one of this year''s best beauty buys according to some reviews I read.

Has anyone had a make up lesson at the Mac counter? I would love to get some tips on applying eye shadow but I feel intimidated by the staff. They are so young and pretty! They will probably wonder what an old biddy like me is expecting!

Mary Kay! Loving it. I still use some of my MAC, but MK is so much more affordable.

ETA: P.S. The under-the-eye cream is amazing!!

Hi Maisie,
I''ve sat down at the Mac counter asking them to find a good blush, eye shadow, or foundation match for me. They should be more than happy to help you. I''ve found that they usually ask questions and make sure you like what they are doing. I would go at a time when they weren''t super busy (weekday, morning). They are not going think you are an old biddy!

I went once and I have mixed reviews. I didn''t exactly love what the girl did on my eyes, *but* I loved the colors she used! I ended up buying both shades of eye shadow and they''re all I use now. So even if it''s not perfect or they don''t make you look exactly like you had hoped, it definitely can''t hurt and I''m sure you''ll end up walking away with at least a few tips and maybe a few products that you''ll like. Go for it!

Bliss-that happened to me with Clinique oil free foundation years ago. I have stayed away from anything Clinique for years. My skin is kinda oily so I think that is why
BE works so well for me. I''m allergic to a whole lot of things but that one doesn''t seem to be one of them thankfully.
