I am new to Sheer Cover. I really like it! I tried the Clinique Superbalanced Powder makeup but its not as good for me as Sheer Cover.
It actually makes me look like I have good skin![]()
I haven''t tried Bare Minerals. I think I will have to stick with Sheer Cover. It cost me £27 for the Clinique powder and I don''t like it. I let the woman at the stand put it on me and it looked good....just not as good as SC. I can''t afford to buy another one just incase its not right for meDate: 1/11/2010 5:49:06 PM

My new favorite is MAC lipstick in Sweetie. Looks perfect on cool tone/pale complexions. Brings out green eyes.[/QUOTE
I''m going to have to try this..I''m quite pale and have green eyes. Thanks for the tip.
Lancome sable eyebrow pencil. I've been filling in the insides of my eyebrows to create the full effect instead of the sparse scattered eyebrows I have there. Makes a huge difference on my face without being too dark or looking perfectly manicured. Huge impact!Date: 1/12/2010 1:00:04 AM

I also just started using brow gel and brow powder recently to make my eyebrows even, and I love how that looks. I never thought so before, but now I definitely believe brows make your whole face.

Yeah, it''s a great shade, but it''s bright. Aside from that, another good color is Chanel''s Imaginaire Glossimer because it also brings out eyes, but is more subtle and is sheer. Aside from those, I mostly wear clear glossimers.Date: 1/11/2010 11:29:41 PM

I only have one of the mineralized shadows and love it! Blends nicely.Date: 1/12/2010 9:16:31 AM

I started using MAC products about a year ago and I love them! I especially love the Mineralize eyeshadows. They are sparkly so I apply with a light hand and a small brush but it really brings out my eyes and doesn't crease as quickly as other eyeshadows I've tried.
I second the T. LeClerc powder! It is great.Date: 1/12/2010 10:19:56 AM

*sigh*
I used to LOVE Bare Minerals. It looked so pretty in photographs on the skin... and in real life, it was so natural. Plus, it had SPF 15 and was sooo easy to apply.
However, I started getting cystic acne from it. There''s a small percentage of people who develop cystic acne from mineral foundations that contain bismuth oxychloride. The old foundations used to use ground up fish scales for that lovely iridescent effect. But now, many use bismuth oxychloride, which is much cheaper and gives the same effect...plus, it helps the powder ''stick'' to your skin. Problem is, it''s not good for your skin and gives some people horrible acne.
This happened to me and I had to stop. It took 2-3 months for the cystic acne to go away and that in itself was a nightmare!!! But some people use it forever and it works well for them. I wish I were among them!
Oh - megeve, you asked about the best loose powders out there to set foundation.
These are my favorites:
1. For a luminous setting, MAC Prep & Prime loose powder does the trick. Does not look powdery.
2. My fav powder of all time is T. LeClerc powder in Banane. It is the Rolls Royce of loose powders. Light, airy and gives you a flawless finish. If you aren''t used to powders, try the pressed powder in a compact but use it with a brush to set your foundation. This one is more matte.
3. A new powder I''ve tried recently that I love is Laura Mercier''s Secret Brightening Powder. They use it for Hollywood people - to set concealer under the eyes b/c it''s so light and won''t settle into any lines. It''s supposed to diffuse the light and take away any circles. It''s so finely milled, I use it all over for a sheer dusting of powder and it''s really pretty and translucent.
4. Ben Nye is a good basic powder and cheap. You can get it in makeup pro shops or online.
5. Giorgio Armani''s Micro-Fil powder is supposed to be great. I can''t wait to try it. It''s supposed to go with their Luminous Silk foundation, which I use sometimes. But I can''t tear myself away from the T. LeClerc.
Makeupalley.com is a great site that has all the reviews for all the new products!
For loose powders, the trick is in application. MAC''s stippling brush is great for a very sheer application. Dip the brush in the cap of the container, not directly into the powder (or it''ll be too heavy)... tap and then swirl lightly or pat onto your face. Wait a few minutes after foundation has been applied so the oils and everything have a chance to settle in first! I would never use the puffs that come with the powders - they deposit the makeup way too heavily. Have fun!
Yep, makeup junkie here. And the funniest part is, DH hates it when I wear any!
Check out my post above about Makeup Forever''s HD Powder. It''s transparent so you can wear it with any skin color or foundation. It makes my skin feel fantastic and look fantastic. You can get it at Sephora. It was one of this year''s best beauty buys according to some reviews I read.Date: 1/12/2010 9:32:31 AM

Any recommendation for loose powder which is of fine quality, doesn''t clog the pores and to be applied over foundation?

Has anyone had a make up lesson at the Mac counter? I would love to get some tips on applying eye shadow but I feel intimidated by the staff. They are so young and pretty! They will probably wonder what an old biddy like me is expecting!
I went once and I have mixed reviews. I didn''t exactly love what the girl did on my eyes, *but* I loved the colors she used! I ended up buying both shades of eye shadow and they''re all I use now. So even if it''s not perfect or they don''t make you look exactly like you had hoped, it definitely can''t hurt and I''m sure you''ll end up walking away with at least a few tips and maybe a few products that you''ll like. Go for it!Date: 1/12/2010 7:23:27 PM
