Ok, worked it out. It’s detecting the nitrogen that is prevalent in lab diamonds ie Type 2a diamonds.
The machine uses some type of UV light wave to detect the presence of nitrogen. It shows up as red. Natural diamonds will be blue. It can also detect diamonds that have been “colour enhanced”.
Interestingly It can’t test accurately above G Colour and they do advise that there are natural diamonds that are Type 2a and they will also show some red. These they suggest be sent to a reputable lab for confirmation.
There seems to be a few of them available at different price points. The one in the video is around $7,000. There are other brands that are cheaper.

I thought type IIa diamonds are devoid of nitrogen.
