I just noticed that there are more jubs on GOG...here is a nice juicy jubilee...Alas, they don''t have what I''m looking for, but this one looks pretty darn good...
Look at the dimensions that list on the cert and those listed by GOG. I know you'll never get the same reading all the time, but don't those differences seem big?
As ya'll can imagine we are very busy getting the data up. I think my retina's are burning out.
VH ... concerning the measurement discrepancies...
I just got off the phone with Don Palmieri (CEO of GCAL)and Cary Horrowitz (manufacturers of Jubilee) to investigate where the discrepancy was. Apparently some of the stones that were scanned at GCAL were done so on the "cushion" setting which takes into account not only the side to side measurements but also the corner to corner measurements and averages those out (measure corner and side and averages it for one measurement then does so on the other side).
What is interesting is that if you were to take into account the corner to corner measurements the stone really does have that kind of spread,
however for simplicity (and comparitive purposes) we use the "side to side" measurments as it is done in princess cuts and radiants and we will be having the few and isolated instances corrected with GCAL. I'm going over each stone with a fine tooth comb but for the record, if there are any discrepancies in measurements please refer to our Sarin DiaMension scans as that gives the actual side to side measurements. BTW ... 5.63mm square on a .86ct ... you'd have to get around a 1.10ct princess cut to get the same measurements!
switch between the various labs and the diameter and depth percentage changes by a whole lot.
Something is smelly in denmark lol! or is it long island :}
edit: rhino posted his explaination at the same time I posted this earlier seems the problem isnt limited to just a sarin setting but the sarin software.
Let me state that as we've been going over all the clarities/colors/polish/symmetry of these diamonds and comparing them to the GCAL reports. In every respect, these guys are dead on. I would even say as conservative IF NOT MORE than GIA with regards to their grading. The Sarin software is an honest mistake anyone could have made especially with these new cuts but let me say Don Palmieri has proved himself in my eyes and he's a 180 degree flip from an EGL report. In any case his grading, if anything is in favor for the consumer (extremely conservative). I'll share some more interesting info on that in the very near future.
