New job, more time, less money?

Wow! Thank you all so very much for your thoughts and good wishes.
My DHs income is enough to guarantee us a good life - with or without my income. My part is just extra money, so I am in a comfortable situation. But work and career were always important to me. I had family late and so I have always defined myself a bit over my career. That might explain my struggles. And of course I think about things that could happen. As for my job. I like what I do but I have difficulties with the environment at that certain working place.

I don't see why not- you took a few years to focus on family and it coincided with COVID- thats been a challenge for so many looking for new jobs, and a challenge for so many small businesses.

Could the part-time position ever become full time? Would there be the option of future growth? Would you be able to use some of your freed up time to pursue a volunteer or paid opportunity that could be added to your CV? It sounds like your current job is not a great fit for you, doesn't hurt to see what else is out there.

I have always worked full time, but would be very open to working a reduced schedule if the salary was right in the future (I'm a physician and would love to work 3-4 days a week instead of 5 with weekend/holiday coverage) while my kiddos were still school aged.

May i just for a moment steel this thread
Regarding a gap of two years
2019
2020
after an almost 30 year continuous work history (minus 1998 for overseas travel in my mid 20s)
We moved cities and Gary retired - he is 19 years older than me
Do you think its ok to say i had some time off to enjoy some time with them then the covid situation delayed my return to the workforce ....?

Hi @Daisys and Diamonds I think a 2 year gap is very explainable especially under these situations. You had a significant life change with a move and you needed time to get things settled, then the global curveball that was Covid happened.

Thank you for the reassurance

I worked for my last employer for 14 years and its nervous getting back up on the horse even thinking about job interviews again
