Elle, the only other Kellys I have are size 32''s. The 40 definitely feels heavier. My Birkin is a size 35 in Swift, which feels a bit lighter to me than Clemence.

Meresal, I have 6 Hermes bags so far. I take them to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts, plays and some restaurants. I don''t take them to extremely crowded places or places where people will be smoking or buffets where people will be walking around with drinks or food.

I guess it is the material of my MIL's Kelly bag that was my first impression. The leather, it just reminds me of a very, very nice briefcase. I know! I'm horrible!

After reading your explanation, I googled some other pictures and see how they are worn. I understand now!
