Hi everyone, I am considering buying this stone and wondering if it is an okay deal...I have read about med blue flour on this site and actually picked this stone because of it''s flour quality...here are the specifics:

shape: round
cut: signature ideal
carat: .80
color: F
clarity: VS2
polish: excellent
symmetry: excellent
L/W ratio: 1.00
depth: 61.5%
table: 57.0%
measurements: 5.95 x 5.96 x 3.66 mm
flourescence: medium blue
girdle: medium
culet: none
report: GIA
price: $4,329

Thanks in advance, any comments are much appreciated!

If the diamond is GIA report number 2111090865, then it scores 1.4 on the HCA (see the tools link at the top of the screen) which is a good start. I believe further analysis requires images, which Blue Nile doesn''t provide, but I''ll let the more experienced people weigh in on that.

Lestat, thats really helpful, thank you!

The diamond has excellent numbers and is about as safe as you can get if you are buying without images - although there are no guarantees there is a good chance it will be a beautiful diamond.

You really can't tell how clarity characteristics will show visually from the inclusion plot - it's just there to tell you where the inclusions are and how far they extend.

You can ask your BN rep to take a look and tell you if it meets your requirements for cleanliness - I believe they have their sig. ideals in-house.

You would have to ask Blue Nile to look at it and check if it is eye-clean. But it may be a bit shallow; we would need pictures to check.

Thanks, I actually spoke to someone from bluenile earlier today and they said they don''t have access to the stones or pictures of them

other than the clarity issues it seems like a great option, i did the HCA and it got a 0.9 TIC, that''s good right?

It might be worth it for you to buy an Ideal Scope and order the stone to check out yourself.

Ditto, getting an Idealscope to check this stone as it is borderline shallow for obstruction could be prudent. Also as far as I am aware, BN can normally find out if a diamond is eyeclean or not or at least get some idea so ask them again if they can find out for you.

Thanks.

Another question - related to a different round stone (.86 ct) How does 62.8% depth and 52.7% table with crown angle of 35 and pavillon angle of 40.7 sound?

Promising, but with a very high crown and total depth so the diameter of the stone will be smaller than a more balance cut.

It is a strange combo, but it checks out on the HCA.

FWIW, I would not buy an SI2 sight unseen. Most SI2s are not eye clean. If you want an SI2 I suggest going with a vendor who has the diamonds in house and can check them out.

Someone said this on another thread, but I am scepticle about it since BN told the OP that the diamonds could not be viewed. There is some inconsistency in the messages being put out there by BN reps regarding their SI line. I would like a clear answer so I was sure when I advize people here! But I suppose we will not get it.

I just ordered it...

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1279546.asp

and i got a $200 pricescope discount! there is a 30-day return policy so if I'm not pleased I will send back.

Could someone please look at the ASET on the AGS certificate and comment, the only thing I found weird is that the center is not green...

TIA

I like it a lot, it's going to be stunning. The center doesn't have to be green.

we cannot see the idealscope image as it is linked to your account. Also linking to external image is not allow in this forum.
