Hi
i dnt have a solitaire ring yet and dnt know much about diamonds. I plan to buy 1ct diamond ring and since i would not be able to afford another one for some years if this goes wrong so i am extra careful. But i dnt know what to look for in a diamond...what is more important shape, cut, color, clarity-my maximum price range is $4000.
i want a nice glittering rock

which will be my first in life

I suggest reading the tutorials available here on the forum located under the Knowledge menu option at the top of this page to become more familiar with the basics of diamond education. There is a wealth of information to be found within the forum itself too.

Cut is the most important factor because it controls the visual performance of the diamond... Carat weight in my opinion is the least important.

I suggest conducting some searches using the diamond search engine on the front page of this site to get a better idea of how much diamond your money will buy because it isn''t likely that you''ll find a very nice looking one carat stone for $4K
