Hi all! Very excited to say I have been working with BGD on a custom setting and have an appointment set-up Thursday to go look at some stones! I did some window shopping at work today and have decided I'm definitely comfortable taking that step down to I color if it gets that bump from 1.1-1.2c. Just curious on your guys opinion on the stone below:

http://m.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.214-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104067043001

Great specs on the stone.

I would suggest seeing the stone in person before committing. The large inclusion on the table may be visible, if you have sharp eyes.

Excellent that you are checking out WF, as well!

Definitely worried about that inclusion, I've heard the ASET/idealscope can exaggerate flaws, so I'm hoping it's not as obvious to the naked eye!

You'll notice the stone you had linked has the exact same specs as this stone, yet this stone is over $500 more expensive:
1.214ct, I, VS2
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.214-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104071675023

which leads me to believe that the inclusion will be visible, at some distance, necessitating the discounted price.

So, I would prepare for the inclusion to be eye-visible. I would suggest looking at alternates, just in case.

Here is another option to consider, which is the exact same size (diameter), and only slightly more expensive:
1.211ct, I, VS2
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.211-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104074030054

Although tough to tell, it is possible that this stone is eye-clean (check with BGD), and would be about the same price as the original stone:
1.213ct, H, SI2

Re: New guy needing help! Playing Sherlock and detecting a s

That looks like it would be a beautiful stone! I can't wait to see it set!

Re: New guy needing help! Playing Sherlock and detecting a s

Very excited for my BGD appointment tomorrow.

Good news is I have my WF scheduled for next Tuesday as well. They sent me three diamonds to consider appointment. I'm leaning to the one in the middle for my first choice, but I'm a little worried about the large table (it also scores the highest on the HCA tool, although still below 2). My novice eyes don't notice any impacts from this on the idealscope/ASET. What do you guys think?

Of course I'll be sure to solicit everyone's advice once I have my final rock options! And share pictures too!

I am SO happy you are looking at WF and BG stones!

Just FYI, you don't use the HCA on AGS Ideal cut stones. They have already been assessed for light performance. HCA is for GIA stones to try to get stones that are in the ideal cut range (or see how close they are to the range). A higher score under 2 is not worse than a lower one, in any event. So all three ACA's are excellent. Nothing is wrong with any of the table sizes. I think maybe you kind of need to narrow down your specs, though, because those three stones go from G-I color and VS2-SI2 in clarity. That is fine if you need to see that range to decide what you are comfortable with, but they have MANY other desirable stones that are going to fall within that wide range. If I were you, I'd eliminate SI2 from the equation and stick with VS2 and SI1. Only you can determine your comfort range for the color of the stone, but you may not be able to tell depending on their lighting. Those three stones also have a $2000 price range. What is your actual budget for the diamond?

Good news! The inclusion on the table is nearly invisible! I could only really see it though the hearts and arrows scope! Very please with BGD, they sat me down an took me though multiple options, and even brought me some lower prices options they though would suit my need without even being prompted (primarily some J/K stones). now its decision time!

Re: New guy needing help! Playing Sherlock and detecting a s

Beautiful stone! Hard to go wrong with an AGS zero. Maybe just confirm that it's a high I in the color range.

That stone should be a winner.
