Stones photographed on white cotton-bond paper under

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

omg, I'm really loving the chrysoberyl :appl:

what are the dimensions?

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

What and how is the colour shift for both? Since the paper is white but looks off on my monitor, I'm unsure of what I should be seeing.

Chrysoberyl is 5.1x7.1

Spinel 5.3x5.3

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

if it were a little larger I'd suggest going with the spinel so that I could steal the chrysoberyl...

But unselfishly, both are beautiful. they are a very different look though - the spinel is so red it seems very femme fatale, so I would personally stick with the chryso (but i like green, and paler colours). What does your brother (or is it brother-in-law?) think? Sorry I can't comment on the quality as my eyes are so untrained, but pretty sure Chrono or TL will soon step in to help!!

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

As much as I love red - that chryso is SOOOOOOOOO pretty.... I'm totally bias for step cuts though!

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

I vote chrys too!
The spinel looks like it might have a tendency towards having a brown cast. The chrysoberyl looks like it'll sparkle even in low light.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

Unless it's reflection, seems the spinel has some extinction. The chryso, though, is fabulous, imo. Love the cut & saturation -- bet it sparkles like crazy. For me it would be an easy choice! :cheeky:

Can he do a hand shot of both stones next to each other?

HE said he would et me one more photo in another ind of lighting. Hes been really good with me, so i dont wanna pester him with too many questions KWIM?

On my phone screen the red looks amazing but on my computer not so much... currently im leaning toward the chryso, but please, keep the opinions coming. :wavey:

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

Having it under different lighting is useless if the reference colour is off. As TL suggested, do a hand shot with both stones on the hand at the same time.

It is impossible to be sure when judging color via electronics; every monitor (& original photography, great as it may be) changes it somewhat. Could you order both & return one? You can really only tell with it in hand. Then you can try it in varying light sources yourself, too.

yeah i can as the two together are only like 525, but id rather not deal with the hassle. I think im leaning toward the Cryso just because the shape is what she wanted, its bigger, and the color seems to be of a true representation of its color, if that makes sense. More saturated green than the red is saturated red.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

I'd go with the chrysoberyl :) It wasn't my immediate reaction, but only because I don't *love* the color as much as I love reds. But in your other comments on the stone search, I think the color is perfect for what she wants (based on my monitor) and the shape is, too :)

Totally think that is the way to go!

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

Chrysoberyl are shifters too so make sure you like the yellower side as well. It will not stay looking like this all the time.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

OK, from those, definitely the chrysoberyl. Definitely. :)

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

Hands down chrysoberyl for me; I like both the yellow and green sides. For reds, I would want a better red, which you don't have many options with your budget though. But this isn't for me so make sure she really loves it too.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

I like the chrysoberyl, but they're both nice.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

No question, chryso.

Re: New e ring stones. Peters options.

A decent vendor should always answer as many questions as you have. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions.
