Hi all!

I'm back with a new small project in the works and I have ran into various ideas and I don't quite know which way to go. So, any opinions or words of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Basic story: I bought my first vintage stone (preloved!) and I think it is an OMC with following approx. details (0.52ct, K color, loads of broad facets and bright, small table, open culet, cushion shaped but not perfectly symmetrical). I've always wanted a DBTY necklace and I think this is a good size to work with. I've also always been fond of rose gold, and would love a RG piece with a diamond.

I had the pleasure to meet with Chris from ERD to think up of possibilities and what he recommends. Via PS, I've now worked with BGD a few times :naughty: , IDJ for my new jackets  , and from the raves about ERD I'm quite tempted to own a piece of their craftsmanship With that said, if there are any other recommended vendors to use for this project I'd also like to know because this is just the beginning phase with nothing set in stone (no pun intended!).

Ideas that I like: fine bezel, inside-only milgrain (which was recommended by Chris)

Metal choices: 18k WG (all my few pieces of jewelry are this metal because, to me, it's the safest and I'm partial to 18k), unplated 18k WG, 14k RG for rosier look, 18K RG becuase I like 18k, or 20K RG (recommended by Chris and he showed me a small sample plate to show me the color- it's an interesting warm yellow which I am growing to like. Not sure if a chain in 20k RG can be sourced though.)

Bezel choices: cushion shaped bezel (however my stone is asymmetrical and one corner is not as sharp as the rest), or have the inside of the bezel be shaped as a cushion and the outer rim will be circular to help make it look more balanced (another idea by Chris). I like the art deco idea, however, the issue with the second idea is that there would be more metal that needs to used and I'm worried it may not look as fine as I'd like. I would hate for my bezel to end up looking like a poofy donut.

I also do not want the bezel to poke my neck, so I asked if two "U" shaped legs can come together to prevent the culet from touching my skin.

Then, I thought the Barbara pendant! So maybe make something similar to that effect, which uses 3 "U" shaped legs, and no "ears" are needed to connect to the chain. But does this make it non-DBTY??

Last thing: Ears (the part that is attached to the bezel to connect with the chain). What should the orientation of the ears be? I would like to prevent the pendant from flipping if possible. Is there a better preference if the "ears" are mid-line at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, or slightly higher at approx. 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock? I think BGD places them a little higher from the pictures I see on their site.

I hope breaking it down like this makes it easier for you all to read. Thank you guys!
