Hi there. I've been wearing white gold studs for over 10 years every day. On Thursday, I got new 1.20ctw studs from IDJ. They're beautiful. My last studs that I wore daily are .80ctw size. The new ones have a jumbo back, which I've never used before. I put them in on Thursday and could definitely feel their presence. I don't know if that makes sense but they are bigger than any of my others and I was definitely aware of them, you know? I wore them on Thursday, took them out to sleep, and then wore them on Friday. It's now Saturday morning and my piercings feels a little irritated. No redness, swelling, rashes, and signs of infection or allergy.
I'm definitely not an expert and I'm not sure why my ears seem to dislike these earrings so much? They do weigh more than my last studs, the diamonds are bigger and the backs are bigger. Do you think that it's just simply the extra weight? Will my ears eventually get used to them? They are a four prong basket setting instead of a 3 prong martini setting, so they don't nestle in my ear as much as my last pair. I would think that would be a good thing though. Should I ask the vendor for the regular backs? Maybe that would help with the weight? If there is something irritating my ears, would it just be the setting? Maybe use a different metal?
How long should I wait before contacting the vendor? While I certainly don't think they did anything wrong, I would like to be able to wear my earrings with comfort. It's Saturday morning now and I haven't worn them since Friday evening. The piercing is still a little tender.
Thank you for the guidance!
