New diamond for studs matching already owned diamond

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a new diamond to match another one we already own, to make a pair of studs.

The one owned is: 0.41ct, G, vvs1, table 56, 4.82 x 4.84 x 2.95

I found this one: 0.4 ct, F, vvs2, table 59, 4.82 x 4.79 x 2.88

Would it be a good match despite the differences? If not, why and what should i try to match as much as possible?

(I know i could find better matching parameters but, as they are relatively small sized, i am wondering if those differences matter less than on bigger ones and your answers on this pair would be useful in the search process).

I repurposed a ring into earrings and a pendant. One earring is .32 and the other is .36, and honestly in my ears, you can’t see any difference.

I'd expand the search to f/g/h and si1 to vs1 and try to get closer to the table and diameter.

Do you know the crown and pavilion angles? While the stones will be on your ears that are separated by your face, I'm sure you don't want them to perform drastically differently. For example, larger table could mean more white light return and your original stone could have more colored light return. Again, not sure how much you care but it's not about matching just color and clarity.

I'd personally want the same color and closer tables, but really depends on how anal you are. It took me 6 months to find a match for an existing stone for a pair of studs.

Thanks a lot for your comments. Crown/pavillion angles are the same, new one has larger table and lower depth. I was tempted to think that on 0.4ct sizes 3% more table was not giving a significantly different light performance for a pair of studs, but perhaps i'm wrong.. it would be for a gift. I don't think she would care much of perfect match, but yes.. she wouldn't like if the difference is evident.. could it be the case?

Hi all, i found a better matching one (same table, colour, mm size). The differences are: faint fluorescence (vs. None in the owned) and the girdle which is "thin - slightly thick (faceted) 3%" (vs. Thin medium faceted 3% in the owned).

Would fluorescence and girdle difference be an issue?

Not at all.
Fluorescence will be invisible for the human eye, and both girdles are 3%.
Are diamonds the same carat weight?

Old: no fluor.
0.41ct, G, vvs1, table 56, depth 61.5, 4.82 x 4.84 x 2.95, angles 34/40.8, hca 1 (all excellent, apart from spread very good)

New: faint fluor.
0.41ct, G, vvs1, table 56, dept 61.4, 4.80 x 4.82 x 2.95, angles 34.5/41, hca 1.8 (all very good, apart from excellent light return)

What do you think? If good match, i will ask for ideal scope.
