Stone #1 I''ve been considering for a while... Stone #2 is the new contender (I ruled out the last one I was looking at- didn''t like the clarity picture and cut wasn''t as good as it should be- you were all right.)

I really want the size, and obviously am not looking for the perfect diamond (I like the J color, and will skimp a bit on clarity). I want the sparkle, but it doesn''t have to be the most absolutely perfect stone either. Any suggestions? Stone #2 is the absolute top of our pricerange (and that is the pricescope price). Which would you pick?

Stone #1
1.5 ct Round Brilliant
Color: J
Clarity: I1 (pretty much eye clean- I like it)

Symmetry: Ideal
Table: 56.6
Depth: 61.6
Crown angle: 34.5
Pavilion angle: 40.9
HCA: 1.6
$5410

Stone #2
1.78 ct Round brilliant
Color: J
Clarity: SI2 -eye clean
7.78 x 7.71 x 4.81
GIA Cut Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Table: 55%
Depth: 61.7

Pavilion angle: 40.6
HCA: 0.8

No. 2 if you can swing it.

Sounds like you are doing well in your search and armed w/the right tools! Have you seen these 2 in person, which did you like best?

I haven''t seen either in person- I''m going off internet pictures and recommendations by the vendors.

I read a lot on here... but don''t post much. This is the first diamond purchase for us. Hope we''re doing this *kinda* right. Ha.

JR3116,

I might be tuning in here late but I''d like to ask, how come you chose stones with such a large price difference?

Those were the only stones I found to be honest. I wanted to keep the stone price at 6500 or under. After I found the 1.5ct AGS 0, I decided that I wouldn''t go smaller than that stone, and the inclusion is minor so that''s the best stone for the price hands down. I would like a stone a little bit bigger- by diameter (not necessarily just weight)... so I figured I''d need a stone with a 7.7 diameter or bigger to see a difference.

I''m up for suggestions though! Anyone have any?

I''d get the bigger one if you can swing it. I like that it''s eye clean and it''s a good size bigger in diameter.

Have to ditto the rest. #2 looks like a winner. I like the eyeclean SI2. It''s a nice stone by the numbers, and it''s bigger.

shay
