Hi PS'ers,

Thank you so much for sharing your many and varied thoughts. I really, really appreciate them. What I can tell that in this case, it is truly a matter of opinion. On the bling scale, some are at a higher number, and some less. However, I think I am safe in that it doesn't look ridiculous to wear them all. And I will give it some more days and see how quickly my eyes get used to it, or not... I'm lucky that BlueNile has a very reasonable return policy.

In the meantime, I am on the hunt for other options. I will try to post other options if I come across them. And thank you so much for those who liked the thick band and the solitaire. I was thinking it was really boring (especially with the wedding band being so thick) when I saw all the super blingy bands on PS.

I think they all look great! The blingy band is just big enough to compliment your gorgeous solitaire so I don't think there are any problems there, however, your solitaire will look amazing with whatever you put next to it, or on it's own. I'd keep the blingy band if possible and maybe wear it on the right hand? Whatever you decide, I think it looks great with all the options!

Thanks 04diamond. I will perform my due diligence and test run it for a couple of weeks, but I sure hope I can keep it. :)

I love all three together, with your WB acting as a 'spacer'. I'm actually curious if you can try on a thinner band/spacer with the e-ring and 5stone.. so that it doesn't reach as "high" on your knuckle. Does that bother you? It looks BEAUTIFUL, and I think you should wear the whole set with pride. It's def not over the top ;))

Hi madelise, you're definitely among those who are convincing me my next project is a low set bezel of some kind. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Yeah, I've got some short fingers. They are 4.5 / 4.75 and I usually don't even reach the tips of small gloves. I will try next time I'm at Tiffany. :)

And by the way... Speaking of "fat, old-school bands"...
This is the band I have been wearing alone for about the past 8 years or so... (in this photo it is paired with my new 6-stone, but I used to wear it by itself when my original wedding ring was sitting in a drawer missing a diamond..)

And actually... I still really love my thick, heavy platinum band. This combination is likely what I will wear when I travel out of the country and I often wear it to bed or when I'm not wearing my "fancy" e-ring.

Let's hear it for Old-School!!! :appl:

Edit:
Oh... And mine is a 4.25-4.5 too!! YAY for big BLING on small fingers!!

I think the stones are a tad too big. Maybe 15 pointers would be better?

Hi Laila,

Too big right?? :) Aesthetically, I think the seven stone from Tiffany (which is much closer to 15 pointers) makes all three rings look like a more cohesive set. That is the word I was looking for. Yeah. Less an of assault on the senses. But I can't help but just love plain old bling more. I think I would sacrifice visual cohesiveness for BLING!!

Well, I'll give it a couple of weeks and see if DSS or the opposite sets in. :)

Hey, I totally understand LLJsmom! I love bling too. If you love it, then go for it!! A super blingy 5 stone is always a good thing!

Yes, it is true, that the 5-stone may not let your e-ring be the "star", but it makes one magnificent, eye-popping, show-stopping SET!!

I am in the same boat... I have a 6-stone band that I am wearing with a cushion halo e-ring. I do believe that my beautiful AVR halo would show off more if it were with a plain band... but I also LOVE my wedding band and I really enjoy the super blingy look of them together. I am also currently having a yellow gold spacer ring made (from melting down my original wedding ring) and I can't wait to have a 3-ring set!!

It is not everyone's taste. But that is OK!! If it makes your heart sing when you look at it... then wear it with pure JOY!!
I think your set with your wedding band as the spacer is AMAZING!!
And you can always switch it up later on.

I think you have a beautiful set... but you need to LOVE whatever you choose. Good luck, thank you for sharing, and keep us posted on what you decide!!

Dougsgirl, Wow, you've got serious bling!! That AVC is TDF!!  I don't think anything looks as good in a halo as an AVC. I can see you really do love your bling. It does look great together. Having a spacer will give you peace of mind, and protect your stones. OK. Bling is OK. My mantra. I am struggling with it, as you can see. I love it, but am afraid to love it, but then wonder if I shouldn't and on and on and on... Ok, thank you. I will wear it to get used to it, and then see if I still love it.

Thank you for the thoughtful pics and words. I am sure I will keep repeating them to myself in the next couple of months. :) And your band beats my band!! We're band buddies!! That's a pretty fabulous band. :twirl:

Hahaha!! Well... My band was never worn with a solitaire, it was only worn alone. It was my "interim" wedding ring for many years until we were finally able to get this one. And when I was designing my AVC halo I never planned for it to have a diamond band with it, but then my original diamonds from my original wedding ring (that were given to me by DH's grandma) were sitting in a drawer, unworn. So I had the 6-stone band made, and, well, now I like them together. LOL. What can I say?? :D

And yes.. Bling is OK. For ME... it makes me happy. My husband says I'm like a raccoon... attracted to anything shiny. He also says I would have made a terrible Indian because I would have traded all of my land for "shiny beads". LOL

Wear what makes YOU happy!!

Which I resized and wear on my ring finger. My poor (literally after all I spent this year) husband is desperate. Anything to stop my spending.

WOW!! That is one serious right-hand ring!!! So you have TWO massive rocks... good for you!! :appl:
Did that halo used to be an e-ring?? Or was it always a RHR? It is absolutely stunning!

So now I'm even MORE convinced that you need the 5-stone with the e-ring to balance out both hands!! LOL :naughty:

I think you can wear the 5 stone with your ering, I do and I love it. I do think you need a thin spacer band so they do not rub together though.

Don't return that beautiful diamond band! I LOVE the look stacked with your big diamond solitaire and plain wb in the first pic! You have long fingers so you can pull off wearing all three together. You can always buy a thin spacer (plain or diamond) for days when you feel like a different look. I do not think your new 5 stone is too much with your solitaire at all. (I wear my 2.6 RB with my 7 stone .25 pointer band together all the time because I love the blingy sparkly look - I don't worry about the ering being the star because it is what it is...a big stone that you cannot deny).

You go and rock those three rings together because you can, and you love it!

IMHO--it looks great! You have long fingers and can pull it off. If it were me, I would get the ring large enough to wear as a RHR.

Thanks lknvrb4 - I will do so as soon as humanly possible (as soon as I know my husband won't hide all my credit cards and divorce me! ) I see from you avatar that is how you wear yours, and your five stone (or more?) works so great with your ginormous pear. So super gorgeous!! :twirl:

Hi Luxie, thanks! I need to look up your set and see how fabulous it looks. I wore the five stone at yoga today b/c I couldn't get my wedding band off to get the 5 stone off. long story. But I loved how sparkly it looked. I'm surprised at how blingy these five/seven stones can be!!

The right hand ring is a Tiffany double halo soleste with a 2.4 aquamarine center stone (sorry!! not a diamond! What if that was a blue diamond that big? I would insure my whole hand!! ) Yeah, I realized that I really don't mind big. It covers a lot of space on my ring finger and leaves about 3mm of uncovered finger on each side of the ring. I could probably go even bigger. So you see why I do need the voice of reason and general consensus of good taste to reign in my bigger is better tendencies!! :P

Wow LLJsMOM you're right hand ring is absolutely TDF! I love aquamarine and that setting is breathtaking! Here is a pic of my two rings together (not for everyone but I do love lots of sparkle) After wearing my ring since June I'm not in love with my setting anymore tho. My wheels have been turning and I have been thinking of different settings to reset my stone in. ( My prongs are too bulky.) Anyway here is my current set:

Getting my shades!! If I saw that in public I would probably approach you and ask to see that gorgeous set up close!! (I have done that before!). I love it!! It is really beautiful. When i see other people wearing major bling like they're wearing an old sweatshirt, it is especially fabulous. It's like they're so nonchalant about the fabulousness, and they probably are. I swear I saw is woman in my spin class, with a three stone that had at least a 3 carat center, with a five stone that looked at least 2.5 tcw. I think they must have been at least F stones because it was soooooo white. I had to make her let me see it at least twice. It distracted me through the whole class.

So if you reset, What are you considering? I've been drooling after VC's designs all this fall. As soon as I can commit, I will be bringing myring to him. Every week I have a new favorite. Can't wait to see what you choose. You have to start a thread to keep us updated.

Happy thanksgiving!!

Hi Canuk-gal, thank you!! For some reason my fingers may appear longer in pictures. IRL, they're like knobby little clawlike stumps! :) Are you saying you would even go larger on the fivestone? Hmmmmm, interesting idea. Expensive but interesting... :Up_to_something:

Sneaky sneaky, just casually throw in that gorgeous aqua soleste. It needs its own thread. Get cracking!
Oh, and do buy yourself a jazz or swing style spacer for your smashing set. Doesn't have to be Tiffany. :sun:

I also love the blingfest. The set up in picture 1 is so beautiful and I like the wider band too. I would get a thinner spacer for a different look, when you want to switch things up but I would definitely keep the 5 stone band. It has great coverage and fits perfectly from knuckle to knuckle and bigger or smaller stone may not fit and nice as this ring does. And BTW your right hand ring is just magnificent, I just love the aqua in the double halo.

I think your bling is fantastic! I don't think it's over bling. I'd keep your newest addition and wear it in good health.

I keep going back and forth as to whether or not I want to halo my stone. When I do make up my mind I will know and will "have to have it" because I will love it. Since I am still so unsure I do not want to take any leaps yet. I have had my stone only since June, (it is an upgrade after 27 years of marriage - it was my 50th bday gift from dh) (traded up my 1.51ct rb) I have actually been experiencing off and on bouts of the dreaded DSS! Lol. Some days my stone looks huge, others not so much...although I do get lots of compliments and have had a few ask if it was a 3 carater ha! 8-) That is also what is keeping me from rushing into a reset...should I trade my stone for a 3+ carater? - - - which is what I was originally shooting for when I got this stone, I was deciding between this and two 3+ caraters, this stone won out (even tho it was a tad smaller) because of the quality -it outsparkled the others.

What types of settings are you thinking of resetting your beautiful stone in?

What types of settings are you thinking of resetting your beautiful stone in?

Luxie, you and I are in the same boat! I initially really wanted a Victor Canera halo, emilya style. But then I saw some halos where it made the center stone look a lot less sparkly. I got scared. And another thing that I have honestly been worried about (pretty constantly) is me damaging, chipping my stone. I am very hard on my rings. I work full time and have two kids and don't have time to take off my rings. I lift weights, barbells with 50 pounds with them. (I do have on gloves.). I go to the gym during my wok day and don't have a place to put my jewelry. I do housework with them. I sleep with them. I hate taking them off cause I don't to lose them. I recently saw a really beautiful Single Stone bezeled halo, and I think I really like the look. The bezel really allowed the center stone to shine. I don't see too many bezeled halos on PS and I wonder why. Do you think people don't think it's pretty? It will give my ring a very substantial look and feel and I like that. I tend more away from dainty looks to more heavy settings so I am still feeling very awkward about my current setting. All my rings are big rings, even the fun ones. If it doesn't cover your whole finger, what's the point? Honestly, I am trying decide what to spend money on first. Should I get my ideal setting or should I keep the five stone? The money I would spend on my five stone could go toward the VC reset. Only thing is the reset makes it permanent. Same thoughts as you!! I kinda have DSS too. bBut if I go bigger I would want a 3.5 at least, which is double the cost of my current stone, given my required specs. Not a reality for the next ten years. Meanwhile, after I reset, I might save up for an AVC, which I have been craving. One just under 2 carats would be more affordable than upgrading to a 3.5 carat. Thank you for listening to my rambling. Really I don't think anyone outside of this forum would understand. So I am going to wear my five stone and see if it makes me stop worrying or craving a reset. If not, I might return it and plan on doing th reset in June 2013 when I am down in Southern Cal and can visit Victor Canera personally . Can you tell me what you think about this one? Leon Mege does a beautiful one too. I think this would really protect my stone, give great finger coverage, and really showcase the center stone.

http://www.victorcanera.com/jewelry/engagement-rings/old-european-cut-diamond-in-bezel-halo.html

Again ,thanks for your thoughts. I really do appreciate them. And if you think I am crazy/paranoid/stupid tell me. I can take it. ;)

Hi Jane, thank you for your sweet comment. :P I'm a little Afraid to post a thread about a non-diamond. I'm don't want to break any forum rules. Speaking of which, I looked at BGD bezel bands, and think they are really pretty. Do you know about the quality of BGD bezel pieces as compared to Tiffany? I've seen Tiffany jazz rings but not BGD. I saw white flash but preferred the larger stone carried by BGD.

Thank you CharmedOne, for your thoughtful reply. Your lovely comments definitely make me lean toward keeping it. :twirl: I also am thinking about a smaller lower set spacer/bezel set ring. Many of you have been consistent in agreeing on a smaller spacer type ring. I have that on my list now. I'll let you know when I get it!
