Hi, first I have to say thank you to everyone for the wealth of knowledge around here. After spending the last two weeks pouring over this site I have gone from being lost to having a decent idea of what I am looking for.

I am looking to buy an diamond with the following criteria:
  • $10-15K
    1.5+ carats
    H or I
    VS2 or better

Notes:
I don't want to see any flaws, even up close, so I am hesitant to buy an SI1.
I really like B2C's settings - she loves the 2mm six prong solitaire (without the knife edge)

I would greatly appreciate any input you have

Here are a couple I am considering:

I am having trouble getting those pages to load.

Me too. I'll look for something else. I'd rather you buy from somewhere that offers videos and ideal scope images as well...

I know this is an SI2, but you could ask if it's eye clean! It's beautiful and AGS certified! If you like it, I'd put it on hold and request an ideal scope image. JA also offers a 1-5% discount for PS members:

Thank you so much, that one at JA is beautiful!

I agree and I love the size!!!! If it's eye clean, that'd definitely get my vote. It is a feather, but put the stone on hold and ask to speak to the gemologist and ask them about the clarity. Then make sure that the feather won't cause issues for the stone.

I put it on hold and will get the gemologist's opinion on clarity. The person I chatted with says its eye clean. About the feather, is this something I should have evaluated by an independent appraiser once I have purchased it?

The gemologist will give you an honest opinion that I would trust. They're different from the sales people on the chat. I'd check with them first. But it is a good idea to get the ring appraised for insurance purposes.

I understand your feelings with regard to eye clean stones. Not all VsI and SI1 are created equal. That being said just wanted to share my
GIA H color sI1 EC......although not the best photo you can see straight through the stone and the only inclusion is a small carbon at 11:00 and it can only be seen under a microscope.... The stones from b2c are nice but i can see surface abrasions. also look at JA or some other company with ideal scope. B2C is the least expensive of the ps vendors but the others give you more information about the stones. You can also call the vendors to ask for ideal scope, eye clean etc. PS I love that JA 2.00 stones also.....

so if you are looking to maximize your size, cut, color and clarity don't rule out SI1..

The JA 2.0 has an AGS cert from 2008. Is this cause for concern? It seems odd to me.
