Our newest furry addition came home Easter Sunday, and we are SUPER excited! Welcome "Darling Nikki," to our crazy house. My favorite dog breed is the cavalier King Charles spaniel - Nikki is my third one. She is a 3.5, black and tan girl, and just had her last litter of puppies, so they needed a good home for her. She's a tiny little thing at just 13-14 lbs, which is the smallest I've ever had. She joins Brodie (Blenheim cavalier, 2.5) and Rhonda (shepherd mix, 8 years old). We live by the beach, which cancels out the fact that we have no backyard to speak of (townhouse living).
I think people think we're crazy for having 3 dogs, but my Rhonda is chronically ill with autoimmune meningitis (GME), and she requires an immuno-suppressive drug for the remainder of her life, which I'm hoping is a few more years, but it's very uncertain at this point. I think she'd really prefer to be left alone at this point, and she doesn't want to play with Brodie anymore. It came up that this dog was going to become available and she seemed like a good fit.
So here she is! The adjustment period with her is hard to get used to, because where she lived before she is used to getting up at 4 a.m., and let me tell you....that is not a time of day during which I am interested in being awake. Brodie is so happy and Rhonda is tolerating her well .
