My sister is a photographer, and she took these pics of Nikki (and Brodie and DH and my nephew) on the beach on Monday. Thought I would share - she's settling right in here at our house!

@violet3 OMG you have THE.BEST.PICTURES.

Thank you for sharing the pics of Rhonda. That one of her sleeping is adorable, and her eyes... she has such a presence.

Violet, it looks like Brodie and Nikki are in love! How nice for the younger ones to have someone to play with so that Rhonda can have the peace she probably craves. It looks like everyone has settled in beautifully! I am in love with your furbabies!

Rhonda has started to warm up to her, and has stopped telling her "NO!" to everything she'd like to do - I call Rhonda the warden - she's very alpha. She seems to really like Nikki now, and even lets her snuggle on her sometimes (see pic above) :love:.

Brodie is, of course, super happy and mellow - he's a really easy going dog with a super personality, so anyone could come in here and he'd be fine. He's also happy to have a friend to play with, although she hasn't done a whole lot of playing in the house. They do like to chase each other on the beach and that's super cute!

Nikki. Well, Nikki was a retired breeder, so she has never really been walked on a leash - she was very loved and well cared for, but she had her own yard, so she does not want to go potty unless she's off her leash. This presents a problem for us, as we don't have a yard. So, I walk them up to the beach every morning and let her off her leash (it's a leash free beach) where she does her business and gets a treat. No problem....until yesterday. There were tons of dogs in town for a "doodle romp," which is where 800 registered dogs were to be playing together - anything mixed with a poodle. I swear, it is one of the strangest things I've ever seen, but doodles have lovely personalities in general. It was overwhelming for Nikki, as she does not love big dogs running at her, and she was aggressive toward several of them. For the record, we went up really early before the event was to start, but there were still several of them out there on a beautiful day. I'd never seen her be aggressive before, so I was shocked! I asked the breeder, and she did reveal that Nikki has had her issues with certain dogs, but that she felt the socialization would be good for her, so we'll keep trying. In the meantime, I bought a pouch for her, so if she starts acting up, I can just put her in that and Brodie can keep playing ball.

Today, we woke up and went straight outside, and my girl peed and pooped on a regular walk on her leash! Winning. We're all getting used to each other, and for the most part, everyone is doing great! I'll attach some pics of the last week so you can see her - she got groomed yesterday and did well at the groomers - no aggression to any of the other dogs.

Here is the bag I got for her. I figure I can use it as a beach bag for leashes etc, and if she acts up, I can just put her in there and we won’t have to leave the beach early - Brodie needs his exercise, and frankly so do I.

I put her in this bag to see if she minded and she loved it! When I sat down to let her out, she didn’t even try to move, she just fell asleep on me and started snoring :lol-2::lol-2::lol-2:

Aww what a cutie! Sorry you're having some issues with her. Our girl is an ex breeder too and came with some quirks. She was used to being kennelled, although she would spend time in the house it took some adjusting. She gets separation anxiety, but only if you shut her in. We learnt that the hard way when she chewed through a door! o_O She now gets the run of downstairs when we go out and she's fine.

I love Rhonda too. She reminds me of a kelpie, especially in her baby pictures.

Do you have a clumber spaniel??? I LOVE THEM. I think Nikki will settle in and adjust - there are many WONDERFUL qualities about her, so I'm willing to work with the quirks. Rhonda does look like a Kelpie!!! I just looked them up - that's exactly what she looks like, although none of the other littermates or her mother look like that. I think she's either border collie mix or australian Shepherd mix.....or maybe part dingo :lol-2:

Yes, she's a clumber :kiss2: She's a funny old girl! I'm sure Nikki will settle, she looks like such a sweetie. Kelpies are Australian shepherding dogs, so it wouldn't surprise me if they came from that sort of mix in the first place.
