Our newest furry addition came home Easter Sunday, and we are SUPER excited! Welcome "Darling Nikki," to our crazy house. My favorite dog breed is the cavalier King Charles spaniel - Nikki is my third one. She is a 3.5, black and tan girl, and just had her last litter of puppies, so they needed a good home for her. She's a tiny little thing at just 13-14 lbs, which is the smallest I've ever had. She joins Brodie (Blenheim cavalier, 2.5) and Rhonda (shepherd mix, 8 years old). We live by the beach, which cancels out the fact that we have no backyard to speak of (townhouse living).

I think people think we're crazy for having 3 dogs, but my Rhonda is chronically ill with autoimmune meningitis (GME), and she requires an immuno-suppressive drug for the remainder of her life, which I'm hoping is a few more years, but it's very uncertain at this point. I think she'd really prefer to be left alone at this point, and she doesn't want to play with Brodie anymore. It came up that this dog was going to become available and she seemed like a good fit.

So here she is! The adjustment period with her is hard to get used to, because where she lived before she is used to getting up at 4 a.m., and let me tell you....that is not a time of day during which I am interested in being awake. Brodie is so happy and Rhonda is tolerating her well .

Thank you! I'm going to tell my DH that you said it was okay to get another, since you have 4 cats :lol-2:. Just kidding, walking the three of them together was a nightmare - have to get a schedule that works for all of us going here shortly. New baby never really walked on a leash, so she won't go potty while I'm walking her. This creates a major problem for me, and adds an extra hour to my morning but that's okay. We've found that if we take her to the beach, and let her off the leash, she will go. It's all a learning curve that we're working on.

Honestly I wish we could have a dozen cats and dogs. I can see myself becoming a crazy cat and dog lady lol. Easily. But yeah it’s so much extra work. I’m sure once you get more settled in with the 3 of them it will become much easier. Change is always challenging. Good luck and congrats again on your wonderful new addition :kiss2:

She is a real cutie! All your pups are!
(hopefully you can break her of that nasty 4am habit real soon:geek2:)

oh my gosh! Your furbabies are adorable!

As you can see by my avatar, we have a Cavi too. They are SWEETHEARTS! She is beautiful, those eyes! Bless you for giving her a loving home, it looks like she and the other fur babies are adjusting very well. :appl:

Thank you! I love the coloring of your Blenheim in your avatar  - My Brodie is very light in color, almost blonde. Yours has a gorgeous contrast of red to white!

My first Cav was a tricolor boy, and he was THE BEST. Just a perfect, perfect little boy for his whole 11 years. I'll find a pic for you. How old is your boy? Can you post a picture?

They are so adorable! Congrats and welcome to Nikki :)

Awe, my Rhonda. I post tons of pictures of my dogs on FB because I have no children, and there are a ton of people who are "team Rhonda!" When I posted the new dog, several people were very concerned about Rhonda's happiness over the whole thing :lol-2:. She's had a rough life with her illness, and she has super high anxiety about everything - she barks at everyone who comes in the house for about 10 minutes until she can calm down. But she's a SWEET dog with us, and she's the prettiest dog in the world - part Australian Shepherd maybe? Coyote? I'll find a picture of her as a baby for you - she looked like a little stuffed bear.

@Asscherhalo_lover This was Ripley - first two pics are his baby pictures and the last picture was taken a few months before he died (age 11). He was little - around 16 lbs, and there has never been a sweeter dog in the world. I'm a sucker for a tri-color boy because he was just THE BEST. Can't bring myself to get another one though because it still pains me that he's gone so badly. Good thing there are several other colors! Would love to see a picture of your boy!

Brodie when he was a baby - in the litter picture he’s the third from the right. The car picture was our ride home together from the breeders house. He was about 4.5 months here - I didn’t know him when he was in the younger picture. He had a family first who returned him :angryfire: - I have no idea why. He’s a wonderful, happy boy who loves everyone he meets. They said he ate everything, which certainly was true but what puppy doesn’t??? Brodie is a bigger cavalier, at around 19 lbs (down from 22 lbs), and I have to say, I like them a little bigger. The last picture is full grown Brodie, doing the one thing he loves more than anything else on this earth (including me and DH).

Now, get ready for real cuteness. Rhonda looked like a baby bear when she was born - she had bright blue eyes, and was tiny. Realistically, she came home too early - they said she was 8 weeks, but I think she was more like 5 or 6 weeks old. We have no idea what she is - shepherd mix is what I tell people when they ask "WHAT IS THAT???" (which someone does nearly every time I walk her). The bottom picture is her today, age 8, two years post diagnosis and much grayer in the face since that happened, but still the prettiest girl, which is what I call her. @facetgirl

Today was a good day! Finally got the little lady on a schedule to get out of the house without peeing or pooping. She’s not used to walking, or doing her business, on a leash so it’s been challenging. Today she slept until 8 and then we went to the beach where she promptly peed and pooped!!! Success! The last picture she had a little piece of plastic on her nose for several minutes and had no idea :lol-2:.

How old is your little one in your avatar? Would love to see a picture of him/her!
