Never seen a setting like this before, its got a 1 carat diamond . Whats the setting called? I think its so unusual. Does anyone here have a similar ring like this?
I always think of these are star bursts, but I’ve never heard them called anything specific. They don’t really look like buttercups to me, as the base doesn’t look like rounded petals, but rather spikes of light, if that makes sense?
ps... Gorgeous and I’d LOVE to see more pics!
I’ve also heard the word “Illusion” setting. It’s called illusion because it makes the diamond look slightly bigger because its elevated by the prongs. I love it SOOOO much, and I can’t find any examples in the modern world. Well, actually there’s a PSer who has a modern setting like this but I can’t recall her name. I think these were popular in the 1930s “ish”. I am looking for something like this for a 8mm stone. Your ring is beautiful!
This is so pretty! It reminds me of the setting on @Natylad beauty!
At 7mm, and cut as yours looks, it will very likely weigh more than a carat. The stone’s pattern, and the side view, suggests it isn’t particularly shallow, so I’d bet it comes in above 1.3ct.
It reminds me of the starbursts on top of the Chrysler building - so inspiring!
I saw this picture and thought it might be a way to ask you how high you will set the stone - what are your thoughts?
