My husband's 1 year anniversary of his bone marrow transplant is August 28th. I decided to have Daniel M from Etsy make something to recognize this important milestone in my husband's recovery from LGL leukemia. It's a neutrophil (a very important type of white blood cell). My husband's disease caused him to have little to none of these cells. Which in turn caused him to have a very difficult time getting rid of common infections like colds. For the last 4 years he's been in the hopsital at least 4 times a year for 2-3 weeks at a time.
He's doing quite well right now. He is still on tons of medications but overall doing quite well. The survival rate post BMT goes up quite a bit once you hit one year post transplant so this is a really big deal. I wanted to give him something he can keep. I don't know if he'll ever actually wear it, but I think it turned out pretty neat. I'm also planning to get him a 1st birthday cake and we're planning a family day at an amusement park (his request) with our son on Saturday.

That's a very beautiful and thoughtful gift for a huge milestone. May he continue to heal.

Oh yes, the inscription is from our wedding song. :D Turned out to be more appropriate for us than we even knew.

That is a really neat pendant and nice saying as well.

I wish him and your family all the best ahead!

What a lovely, thoughtful gift Jax. I'm so happy to hear that your husband is doing well post-transplant! Life is indeed a road, and it's a wonderful thing when two people hit a roadblock and keep working 'round it, over it, or through it together :))

Wishing all of you a very happy first birthday!! :appl:

That is such wonderful and thoughtful gift for your husband. Enjoy your celebration and wishing you many more!

What a wonderful pendant, I love the story behind it. I am glad to hear that your husband is doing well.

I am always looking at neutrophil counts, so when I saw the title, I thought "is this what I think it is?" And sure enough it is. I know for people on chemo, the neutrophil count becomes so important and I know how much it can impact one's life.

Congratulations on the one year mark, and I hope things continue to get easier and go well for your husband.

What a thoughtful gift to recognize such an important milestone in your lives! Isn't DanielM the best?

I'm glad your hubbie is doing better post-transplant, and hope he continues to heal.
