Hi all! So, I''ve narrowed down to 2 stones and have an appointment with an appraiser this Friday. Although I was leaning towards one stone, I found out strange things which made me go back to the starting point. What I found out is that there are some discrepancies in the measurements and proportions of the stones. They differ from one report to another. While I''m waiting for the answer to this matter from my vendor, I need your input on these stones. By the way, my vendor is GOG, and they are so wonderful to me! Sarah has been awesome clarifying all my concerns.

Stone#1: 1.59ct, H, VS2
AGS report shows:
Table% 55.2%
Depth% 61.9%
Crown angle 34.4
Pavilion angle 40.8

Helium report shows:
Table% 56.1%
Depth% 61.6%
Crown angle 34.36
Pavilion angle 40.71

Stone#2: 1.63ct, I, SI1
GIA report shows:
Table% 55%
Depth% 62.4%
Crown angle 34.5
Pavilion angle 41.0

Helium report shows:
Table% 55.6%
Depth% 62%
Crown angle 34.38
Pavilion angle 40.86

Their product info shows:
Table% 55.71%
Depth% 62.15%
Crown angle 34.47
Pavilion angle 40.87

I realized that these reports were done by the different devices that the numbers might''ve been a little off from one to another. The price difference is approximately $2500 (#1>#2). I was leaning towards stone#2 since I didn''t see any difference by viewing a comparison video they made for me, but I am a little concern about the stone because the numbers are more "off" between the reports than stone#1. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Both look good.

While this is just anecdotal evidence, I visited GOG a few weeks ago and actually viewed stone #2 in person when I was still looking at stones in that size range (I'd love to go back but there's no way I'm ever subjecting myself to Long Island traffic again). I spent a decent amount of time with it and viewed it in several different lighting environments and it seemed to perform well in all of them. I'm not sure if this really helps as far as explaining the difference between the reports (though discrepancies from one report to another seem pretty common), but the stone is definitely not a dud.

You also need to consider the fact that GIA reports round to the nearest .5 degree on the crown and the nearest .2 degree on the pavillion, which would seem to put things well within the margin of error as far as the GIA report vs. the helium and sarin scanners.

Those a re minute discrepancies and are nothing to worry about. GIA rounds its numbers which explains some of the difference. We are taking differences in the hundreths or degrees or percentages. That is error and is not meaningful.

This is completely normal that the numbers from the report and Helium scan vary, its not an issue. Where there are slight variances, AGS numbers are considered to be the ones of authority so go by those.

Both diamonds look very nice, do you have the rest of the images please and hearts images if these are sold as h&a?

Thank you so much for your comments & thoughts!

Stone-cold11: Thank you so much for the quick reply!

NJDeac- My husband was in NYC on business last week and went to Long Island just to see those stones for me(sweet hubby!). He did say that they both equally performed well in different lighting environments, and that''s what I saw in the video as well. Since I told Sarah that I would sacrifice the color/clarity to maximize "cut" and "size", both Sarah and Jonathan said that it might not be worth to spend extra $2500 unless going for the higher color/clarity. Great to hear from someone who has seen the stone. BTW, my husband almost missed his flight despite the fact that he gave himself 3hrs to drive back to the airport(Newark,NJ)
