I am celebrating 25 years of marriage and my husband wants to buy me an oval (at least 2 carats- I have big hands size 8). I have been looking at this site for a short time - am a newbie and know that there are some real experts who have been very helpful to others who are looking. He would like to spend between $10,000- $15,000 max and I saw the following two on the Pricescope website and would like your opinions please. One is a GIA and the other EGL. In addition, if we choose one- do you recommend we have it sent directly to an appraiser to look at to give us an independent appraisal ?

Hi Heart

I would be glad to help, the trouble is that with BN and SB - neither vendor offer images so trying to buy a fancy shape without photos and an ASET image is buying blind in my opinion. I would try to find some ovals that are in house stones belonging to some of the PS vendors, if nothing comes up we could help you find some from the non in house listings which might be worth calling in, there is normally a fee for this. Or alternatively select a vendor and see what they can find for you.

Also I would stick to GIA graded diamonds, apart from AGS other labs are said to grade less strictly in some circumstances.

These look like they might have possibilities...ask for ASET and ideal images and more pics if possible.

(here is a 2.0 carat but I''m not sure how the bow-tie is. Sometimes they look bigger in still pics)
