I've just purchased a setting for a 7x7 mm cushion or Asscher gemstone. I'd originally planned to have my pink Asscher set into it, but it appears to have too much windowing, so I'd like a non windowed stone. Looking for something interesting - don't really care what colour, just no orange, and probably not a blue sapphire as I already have a blue sapphire RHR.

So, ladies - I'm asking for your help locating a stunning gemstone, cushion or Asscher, 7x7 mm give or take .1-.2mm, and as close to square as possible.

Budget for the stone is about $450. Thanks so much for your help!

Haha - good point, Dani!

I''ve already emailed Jeff White - was just looking for something in the "already cut and waiting for a home" genre.

I think I''d LOVE to have a Yellow Grossular Garnet cut as an Asscher, but I don''t think he was able to source the rough for anything by an Emerald Cut.

Hee hee. Gotcha. I was just being a brat. Yellow would be lovely!

Lauren, what about Wink?

The more I see that type of setting, the more I love it with the colored stone.
Also, a good idea - but I don''t think I want a concave stone - was thinking more of chunkier faceting of a cushion or the Asscher.

Since I wear an Asscher on my left hand, do you think it would be ridiculous to have a coloured Asscher on my right?

Oh wow! That's lovely!

ETA: I wear rounds on both hands. If asschers are what you love - go for it!

Me, too - I absolutely adore that stone, but I''m not sure if I would wear it as much as I''d like . . .

Lauren, I think asschers are gorgeous, and I think you should cover your entire body in them if that''s what you want to do!!!

And I love that setting! I think it''s going to look amazing with an asscher-cut stone in it, no matter what color stone you wind up choosing. And, if you''re thinking you don''t want concave facets, let me slightly re-word Dani''s response:

"Dear Jeff, can you cut me something around 7mm x 7mm for about $450?"

Why not?
Sorry, Dani - work took me away from PS for a bit. . .

Well, I seem to not wear my sapphire or orange citrine as much as I like, but since both rings were fairly inexpensive, I don''t feel so bad. I''m spending more than I usually do on right hand jewelry on this project, and I want to make this count.

So, I''m thinking I need to go with a colour I would wear pretty often, blue, of course, and I woudn''t mind a NF Sapphire, but my budget isn''t going to allow for a pieve as gorgeous as hers, but, I feel like yellow is a fairly neutral colour that I could get away with wearing every day - pink and green I usually like to match to my wardrobe . . .

I may buy one of them just to keep - they''re gorgeous gems!

LOL - Definitely let us know what he says!

I''m the same way with colors. I know for a fact I wouldn''t wear an orang or pink ring- just not my style and the color wouldn''t match anything I own, LOL.

Blue, green, purple, red and maybe yellow on the other hand....

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for Jeff to get back to you?

I feel so OCD worrying about it, as there are so many of us PSers with gorgeous gemstone e-rings and daily RHRs - but I really do have a problem wearing a green top and an orange ring. Feels so weird to me.

Ya know, it took a while. And I got antsy waiting for Jeff''s reply, so I e-mailed Richard H. too!

I think I e-mailed Jeff early last week, and didn''t get a reply until like Friday. I think I''ve heard from other people that it sometimes takes him a while to get back to you because he''s really busy.

Thank you - is it yours? I agree - it''s gorgeous!

I should be getting the setting within a week - it still needs to be sized before it''s shipped out, so when it arrives, I''ll see if 6.6 mm will work. I have a 6.6 mm pink asscher (badly cut) right now.

So, I got a response from Jeff - he''s so nice!

He doesn''t have any grossular rough, but he''s going to keep an eye out for me and let me know when he sees some. I hope he can find some before October!

Yay - this train is moving now!
