Hi everyone,

I am new to the pricescope as well as the diamond world and I would love some of your expert opinions!

I'am looking to take my relationship to the next step with my girlfriend but coming from a person who has never purchased jewelry before, I am a bit lost.

We are from Canada and have visited many stores including Birks, Tiffany and some local jewelers (GTA region) and I finally think I know what she wants!

She absolutely fell in love with the Birks 1879 Single Halo pave ring (mostly the setting.) http://www.birks.com/en/products/BIRKS-1879/g1404-1377/5000597327

I put a deposit down on the ring above with the following settings:

0.50 center stone
0.37 halo
18kt white gold/platinum
G rating with VS2 for the lovely price of 8200 before tax.

Once I left the store I had this moment where I felt that I was potentially making a big mistake.

I did a few google searches and it was clear to see that I overpaid big time for the ring.

So I turn to pricescope for some advice.

I have a tight budget of around 8500 but would be willing to go to 9000 on the total ring.

I found the following:
http://www.ritani.com/engagement-ri...-band-engagement-ring-in-18kt-white-gold/4566 which is the closest I could find that resembles the Birk ring but I really have no idea how to properly select a diamond.

I do understand the "Law of the C's" and I do want a high quality diamond for my future finance.

I think I would like the center stone to be around 0.8-1.10 . From my research I think it is possible to find a diamond for the price of the Birk ring.

Just hoping to get some input!

Thanks everyone!

The ritani setting is perfect here are several stones from Whiteflash that might work

You couldn't go wrong with JA/Gog or whitflash

you could call any of them and tell them what you are looking for

It is so important to focus on the cut first then color and clarity. You can go as low as I color but my opinion is to stay in G/H area with VS1 ti si1 (as long as it is eye clean) with these specs you can get pretty close to a 1 carat stone.

Thank you for your input.

I am very close with finalizing my ring with Whiteflash. (excellent service)

What are your opinions on this diamond?
