I''m struggling trying to decide between these two settings:

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Classic-tiffany-style-Knife-Edge_1137.htm

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-2855_design.asp?pos=1&cid=58&module=setting&item=2855

If I chose the WF setting, I will be getting a round 1 carat ACA diamond. If I go with the JA setting, I will be going with this diamond most likely http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1195064.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131

I need to decide today because of timing. Both settings will be 6 prong and platinum. The JA ring and diamond is about $700 less. My GF definitely doesn''t want anything gawdy, which I don''t think either are. She doesn''t wear a whole lot of jewelry. Usually just a couple small rings with colored stones.

Pricescopers, what is your opinion?! I have learned so much on this site...maybe too much!!

I''m not by any means an expert...but, I chose ACA''s from WF for the melee around my sapphire and they REALLY SPARKLE.

The cut is like something I''ve never seen before.

Just my $0.02 worth...

I prefer the WF setting. Especially for someone who doesn't wear a lot of jewelry, I think the simple solitare is a nice choice. If she decides she wants more bling, she can always get a diamond wedding band to dress it up.

But I'm sure she'll love either of those -- both lovely picks!

ETA, I see that both will be six-prongs, but I still slightly prefer the WF one.

Here are some settings from WF very much like the JA only a little less expensive.

JA and WF have beautiful stones but I personally am partial to WF's ACAs. The JA looks like it'd be beautiful too and probably very close to an ACA. You'd be happy with either choice.

My friend has a 1 ct G ACA and it is super white. Going to an H or even an I could be an option if you want some flexibility in price and selection. But you are definitely on the right path!!

I like the setting with stones on the band. The reason is it stays sparkly forever whereas solid metal will eventually get a little worn looking and need repolishing.

I like the JA too! It''s definitely not gaudy! I really think she will love either of them!

I went ring shopping this past weekend and tried on 2 rings nearly identical to both of your choices. While I liked the solitaire, there was something special about the ring with sidestones. It just has an extra "pop" and personality without being gaudy or overly flashy. I don''t wear much jewellery either but I worry that I would get bored with a plain solitaire and so for that reason I prefer the JA design; it just has more interest I think.

Just my opinion. Good luck with whichever you choose. You really can''t go wrong
