I took the plunge and bought my first colored stone from finewater. I really intended to buy a blue or possibly yellow ascher or cushion, but Gary had this amythyst available and I guess it can best be described as it "sang" to me. The stone is pretty dark, but as it moves it has huges flashes of red and possibly blue, but I mostly notice the red. It is 11.7 x 11.7mm VVS.

I only have the pics he sent me as I don't have use of my camera for awhile. I would like to have it mounted in one of two David Yurman style pendants. It should be set in a prong setting to allow more light to come thru as opposed to a bezel. So DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS where I can have this set? I would prefer not to spend an arm and a leg, however, I don't want to deal with someone scratching the stone, or not having perfect symmetry.

What a gorgeous stone, can't blame you for hearing its song loud & clear. Wow, the cut is so good, showing its depth of color. Wish I could help with setting but I'll be looking myself before long. Hug that baby for me when it arrives!

Beautiful stone, vbnet! I've worked with Daniel M and Julia Kay Taylor before. They're both wonderful to work with and very nice. Daniel M is very quick and affordable. Julia is busier but absolutely fantastic. Sarahbear621 just had this amethyst suite made by JKT:

I know a lot of PSers have been doing projects with Michael E lately. Here's the link to his website:

Those are the only people I can think of right now. I hope this helps. :))

Thanks for the compliments Jewelfreak, I sure do love it! Can't wait to see what you do!

Burberrygirl, thanks for the compliment and thanks for the info, I'll try contacting them. I love Sarahbear's set! I definitely will have to look into this - getting excited now!

OMG! This stone is to die for!

I think you inspiration for the setting is great! :appl:

Thx, Stci!! I was going to wait til after the holiday to talk to setters, but I think I'm just going to have to start next week. I keep taking it out and gazing at it! The hard part will be sending it away to be set.
