Let me start off by saying when it comes to a purchase, no matter the cost I alway research and research until I get tired. Now that it is time for me to choose a diamond I would like all of the advise and help that I can get. I am primarily trying to find a good value. I am not in any particular rush to purchase but if the right deal comes along then I would pull the trigger. I have been weighing the pro''s and con''s of online vs B&M and have decided that it really all comes down to value but I would be willing to pay slightly more to buy from a B&M so that I can see and compare.

I found what I believe to be a decent deal(at a local big name store) but would like to hear what everyone has to say. I will say that despite the specs the diamond appears very eye clean and to be the color stated if not one better. here are the specs
Round Brilliant
1.63 carats
I color
SI2 clarity
VG all the way around
D - 59.4 T - 60
M-7.75-7.77X4.61
G-VTN-THN F
GIA certificate # 2115017496

Although it is a 1.63 because of the cut it appears more like a 1.73 (my concern was the ratio''s weren''t that great but I am being assured that it is good, infact VG by GIA.

My questions are: How do the measurements look to everyone? If I can secure the diamond for under 8K am I making a good decision?

Thank you in advance!
Any and all comments are appreciated

thanks. The v-thin girdle was one of my main concerns but I wasn''t sure if it was just me being to picky (and scared). I have an appointment to view again next week and am fully prepared to walk away but figured if it worth it I would throw a offer out.

I''m starting to think I may want to walk away from this one. I have been amazed at how each stone with the same specs can look so totally different when it comes to inclusions which is why I would prefer to purchase form a B&M.

As time goes on I am becoming more and more open to purchasing online. Are there any diamonds out there that you would recommend if I were to look in the 7-8K range and wanted a round 1.5-1.6?

A 60/60 cut. Angles are not the best, possibly some leakage. With that low s crown angle and a v-thin girdle, might be more prone to chipping.
Thank you for the link SC!

I would personally pass on this diamond FR, as SC explains, the low crown angle and very thin girdle are not a great combination, there is a possibility this duo could cause a potential durability issue. Also the steep pavilion angle is undesirable, particularly in an I colour, as it can cause colour entrapment. You can do better than this diamond.

Thanks. I will pass on this one. Luckily I''m not in any kind of a rush so I will keep looking. I will probably give James Allen a call tomorrow. The only draw back to JA is that I live in Maryland which is where James Allen is registered so I would have to pay tax. Does anyone know if he has a store front in addition to the online store?

They do not have a store front as far as I know, but they can make exception if you ask and make an appointment.
