We are in the beginning stages of the engagement ring process. I know I''m getting an emerald cut in the 1.5-1.75 ct range. But I''m alittle stuck on settings, I know I want a platinum solitaire setting. I was originally thinking just a plain basket setting, however after reading some posts on this site, this type of setting might pose a problem when I purchase a wedding band (I would like to wear both on the same finger). I also want something alittle different...I like the W prong setting by Whiteflash, but don''t know if this would translate well with an EC, or even if it can be done. The EC will most likely be in the 1.2 to 1.35 L:W area, as I like a chunkier emerald. Do you guys have any other suggestions for solitaire settings?

Here is an example of the W prong by WF....I would love to hear your thoughts.....

I would call WF and ask if a band would sit flush, but from the pics it doesn''t look like it.

I found one on Ritani''s web site that is pretty. It''s called the Royal Crown solitaire and it does have matching bands available.

I am not good at pic posting but to me the Mark Morrell Emerald Setting on his front page here is drop dead gorgeous!

Precision Set makes EC settings that sit flush as part of their, um, "Flush Fit" Collection. http://www.precisionset.com/catalog6.html

I have a 1.72 EC in a basket setting and a band DOES SIT FLUSH with mine. I think the width of the band and the height of the prongs is MORE important in the forever "EC with a flush band debate" IMHO.

thanks for all of the input! The thing is, is that my BF doesn''t want to spend much on the setting (would like to dumb the money into the actual diamond), which I''m actually fine with, but I would like a solitaire setting with some kind of interest to it AND be able to wear it with a wedding band...is that too much to ask
