I like a setting at James Allen but i would like to buy the diamond from WF.

This is the setting. http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/designer-engagement-rings/platinum-pave-halo-engagement-ring-with-two-diamond-encrusted-bands-item-17351

I was thinking of a stone of around 1.5c. Do you guys think it will be too small or too big or is there an ideal size stone for such a setting. How does it work if i buy the stone from WF and setting from James, is it better that WF sends the stone to James or the other way round. Is there a PS discount with James and if so how much and does one need to ask for it.

Thanks once again !!

I just had the same questions, so I called James Allen tonight. They answered all of my questions and were very patient. They will not send their setting to another company. They prefer to have you get the diamond home, inspect it, then send it to them to set. This costs $100, plus $30 to ship it. It is also recommended that you insure your diamond in case anything happens during the setting process, since they do not accept liability. Also, they only offer a Pricescope discount on diamonds, not on settings.

I hope this helps! I am in the same boat as you. I think I might have to piece meal my ring. Diamond from WF, setting from JA, unless I can convince myself to fall for a setting on WF. Not sure yet!

I don't think a halo on a 1.5ct is "too big." But it will be large, for certain. Probably around 12mm in diameter, maybe more or less depending on how wide of a :frame" the halo is around it. Unless she has short fingers, a large halo ring shouldn't be a problem. Small ring size, imo, is not as much of a limitation as are short fingers (like mine, hehe).
