Hi -

So i've been searching the past few weeks and reading up as much as I can (with a majority of it from all the great contributions here on PS) about diamonds. I've decided on a custom setting based on the Tacori 2578 (criss-cross band, diamonds halfway around) and working with Yoni at Eternity Diamonds to get in production. I've also narrowed (at least for now) my center stone selection down to two diamonds and need any input or help from you all, the experts, in determining which is the better one to go with:

A) 1.42ct/H&A/Excellent Cut/G Color/SI1/Excellent Symmetry/Excellent Polish/Strong Blue Fluorescence ($11,300 - Friend of a Friend)

B) 1.44ct/H&A/Excellent Cut/H Color/SI1/Excellent Symmetry/Excellent Polish/No Fluorescence ($11,576 - PS Vendor)

Diamond A appears to be a great deal given the higher color grade and slight cheaper price, but what has me hesitant is the strong blue fluorescence. I have not seen either stone in person, but from what i've read, the strong blue can make the stone appear hazy. Also, i've attached both GIA reports to get opinion on which has the more tolerable inclusions. I'm mainly concerned about the stone being 100% eye clean and having not seen these in person yet, am relying on what I'm told and the GIA inclusion diagrams to judge, so would love opinions on which is the preferred SI1 from that regards.

Sorry for the lengthy email, but the other thing that has me a bit confused is both stones are rated to have Excellent Cuts by the GIA, however, when I entered in the dimensions for both diamond A & B into the HCA Calculator, both diamonds received ratings in the 3.X range, which are far from excellent. What gives?

Thanks for the opinions and help in advance, much appreciated. PS has been a great resource already and has made this process that much easier. Now its down to the final and hardest part, choosing...

A http://www2.gia.edu/reportcheck/ind...tVerification&reportno=2111746871&weight=1.44

B http://www2.gia.edu/reportcheck/ind...tVerification&reportno=1115871848&weight=1.42

Both are marginal from the numbers, could be ok, depending on the averaging and rounding of the numbers by GIA. An Idealscope image will be useful here.
Some article to read.

For H&A, will want to see the hearts image first to decide.

For fluor, case by case. https://www.pricescope.com/journal/blue_fluorescence_diamonds

yes, post hearts pic.

also we cannot really evaluate eye-cleanliness from the inclusion plot...that is something you will have to evaluate in person or ask the vendor who has the stones in-hand.

unfortunately I don't have much more information or pictures of the diamond, but am trying to find out more from the dealers. I did receive the attached picture of Diamond B (1.44 ct). any thoughts from this image? helpful at all in determining the quality? thanks for the responses thus far!
