Forgot to add, I don't think I would recertify it. I would have a trusted (hopefully independent) appraiser confirm that it is the same diamond as the GIA report and in the same condition.
Oooh, I like this idea. Complete the transaction of wiring money and refunding the CC, with the agreed upon condition that if an appraiser finds the stone to be not as advertised then you can get your money back. You should probably have an appraisal done anyways for insurance purposes (I sent my diamond to David Wolf and was very happy with his thoroughness - https://justappraisers.com/)

That diamond is hideous! Just horrible. Now send it to me immediately for disposal. :mrgreen2:

All kidding aside, I think you picked a stunner. :kiss2:

Lol. I feel that way a lot around here.

I am not an old cut expert, but I don't really see how you could do any better than this diamond unless you went below 3 carats and got a lower price. But you would have a hard time finding a diamond pattern as beautiful as this. I am shocked that you got 2 no votes!

I appreciate the confirmation and suggestion of the appraiser. He’s on vacation, but the other guy in the store confirmed it’s the same diamond on the cert.

When I looked this time On the usual sites, I didn’t even look at prices and this was my first choice. It was $100 more than my budget so i made a concession.

What is that glowing beauty in your avatar?

My 3 carat OEC felt big on me for a while too. And I have a 4.5 finger. But setting it low on the finger helps and don’t put a halo around it. The eyes will get accustomed to the size in a couple of months.

About the stone, the faceting looks gorgeous and flowery. A K is a nice sweet spot for an OEC. How do you like it? And I personally wouldn’t bother with recertifying. It is probably due to my own laziness. 2-3 years shouldn’t be enough time to ding a diamond. That’s just me.

I just love yours and the setting is TDF.

In your pics I think it looks really, really nice. When you are indoors be sure to check in different lighting environments. Mine changes a lot based on overhead, indirect, LED, incandescent, etc. Make sure you love it in the lighting of the rooms you spend the most time in. Lastly, I think the size is perfect on you.

I checked it out in every room in my house, outside at various times and at work. I spend the most time at work so I’m glad you mentioned that.

I'm no expert but I think its beautiful on your hand and its just a beautiful stone. Since you are planning to set it lower you might be more comfortable with the look on your hand. I love the pastel colors in your second outside picture!

Thank you and I think it will look better when it’s set lower. The main thing I wanted was lots of colors!

I think it’s beautiful. I would think you would get used to the size after a while. Keep it!

Thank you! I appreciate the vote of confidence.

I talked to Grace and she assured me that getting it re certified would be fast and easy and we agreed on how to proceed if there are any surprises. That’s a good point about an appraiser. My local guy is good, but his values are crazy. Thank you for suggesting DVid.

Wow, stunning. I wouldn't worry about a 2015 cert. If it was 2005, yeah.

3ct is a perfect size. It will shrink quickly to your eyes. I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTT

i was going to suggest the trusted appraiser route too, since your only real concern is damage since 2015 and not a question about actual color or clarity from GIA.

It's a gorgeous stone and yes, I would buy it. I was actually looking hard at it. Congratulations, it's a stunner.

This stone is gorgeous and looks good on you! Normally the K color would make me hesitate, but because it's OEC and the dispersion is wild, I think the body color of the diamond wouldn't matter.

I'm also of the opinion to go with trusted appraiser.

I’m in awe!!! I hope you keep her, and love her, and pamper her, and keep me in mind if you ever decide to upgrade. LOL! But seriously, she really does look like a showstopper!

It’s beautiful and I bet you won’t feel it’s too big on you. Bella is an L and I think looks really white. In the box, she looks huge, but once on, I don’t think she looks too big, you very quickly get used to the size.

She’s low set in a beautiful crown, which I think is just perfect.0BAC3DF8-1705-4779-88CB-A31B29A56E22.jpeg

I think it's beautiful!

It's gorgeous. You will get used to the size. I personally wouldn't worry about the report.

You are correct about that. DSS does tend to strike early sometimes.

She is gorgeous!!! And she looks amazing on you. And I predict you will get used to the size. I hope you decide to keep her and have her set in a beautiful setting

@iluvshinythings - You can read about my ruby below. It is part of Bron's amazing stash that she has posted about in the colored stones forum

I love your ruby and the story is great!!! I've never seen a ruby glow like that.

It's a gorgeous stone and yes, I would buy it. I was actually looking hard at it. Congratulations, it's a stunner.

I hope this doesn't sound too mean, but I'm glad I beat you to it. :-)

I'm going to do that ASAP. It will give me head start on insurance too

I can't picture an upgrade right now, but never say never.

She’s low set in a beautiful crown, which I think is just perfect.

I love Bella and her setting is gorgeous! I'm hoping for something similar eventually. (right now I'm tapped out)

I think it's beautiful!

Thank you! I love your name and your kitty! He/she looks so soft!
It's gorgeous. You will get used to the size. I personally wouldn't worry about the report.

Thank you! I love your kitty too!

After a bunch of staring and contemplation, I've decided I HAVE to have this one. She's fabulous and I'll regret it if I send her back.

Now I'm onto trying to decide what to do with her. I have a fancy setting that contains an m-word we shouldn't speak of. It's just the right size. I may use that one, but I've never had a solitaire and I think I'd love one. I'll start a new "help me find a setting" thread when I get to that point.

Thank you all for all your help!

I read the first sentence as ‘I have to send her back’ and couldn’t work out why!
How exciting and fab that you’re keeping her!! Can’t wait to see what your setting choices are! :appl:I would personally set her in a low simple solitaire while you get to know her moods and personality

 She’s gorgeous! What are you going to name her?

Beautiful stone! A K color with SBF will look quite white! Lovely facet pattern too! She looks perfect on your hand! Definitely not too big. How will you set her? :mrgreen2:

Congratulations!! Such great news! She is gorgeous and I think you will be really glad you kept her. Now...setting??
