I saw somewhere that people would help me find the right diamond on this forum so i decided to post.

I guess I will list a few specs i am looking for

- quality over size
- around 1.75ct
- oval (which will probably be set in hidden halo on very thin ring)
- DEF color
- VS or better
- no fluorescence or bow tie

I was quoted this from ring concierge:
1.70ct OV E/VS1 GIA $18,000
no bowtie. no fluorescence, 1.41 ratio

And i also saw this on blue Nile (which looks better / cheaper than the ring concierge One) https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD14765247?refTab=DIAMONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails

So my budget is around $18,000
I am skeptical about where to get it because I hear with ovals, the cut and brilliance are hard to put into a # or rating.

All help is appreciated! Thanks

(also, i attached a photo of the ring concierge one which is the one on top) AC9C94B6-5085-48D0-8893-B2A72BF8BBCD.jpeg

Thanks for that. I see the elyque oval you referenced looks like it has an oval inside an oval. Is this a more expensive cut?

Jon is great! He has a lot of knowledge and I’m very impressed by his exclusive Heritage Oval. I actually emailed him today and inquired if it’s possible to have one custom cut for me. The heritage oval cut is absolutely stunning with it’s chunky facets and no bowtie. You can also use his free concierge service to find an oval for you.

There are also plenty of knowledgeable folks here that can help OP find a beautiful oval.

I am personally attracted to ovals like this but I would like to call @tyty333 to assist with OPs search.

Edit...I thought SimoneD had posted a link to a 4 main. Let me go find one.

Edit again...here is a 4 main

Not all examples are in your specs...they are just for you to see the different faceting patterns and what to look for

This is a 4 main (you can see the number of mains on the GIA report pavilion view). They usually* dont have the triangular faceting pattern
in the center. A true bow-tie is a black area that goes through the center of the stone however, most people think that the triangular faceting
pattern in the shape of a "bow-tie" is the bow-tie (no wonder).

Ovals come in different mains. They have somewhat different looks.

8 main offset This is what most ovals are
This is the one you posted above @Mailbox22
10 mains - Like the Ideal cut Elyque, yes, you get to pay extra just like a Super Ideal Round.

For good light return in an oval you want to find distinct, well-defined facets through the middle. Look for additional nice facets showing up as
the stone turns. If you are looking for a long oval a 4 main might be your best bet.

This is an amazing oval in my opinion. Faceting and light return like a well-cut round brilliant

The more you narrow down your specs the harder it will be to find a nice oval. Fancy shapes like ovals are not like round brilliants where you can
pretty much pick your specs and have several stones to pick from.

A few I think are nice. Pay attention to the LxW because they differ widely at the same carat weight.

https://www.adiamor.com/Diamonds/1.79-ct-D-VS2-Excellent-Cut-Oval-Diamond/D45903685?rfr=search very long stone 1.59 ratio

If you are after a longer oval try to find one that has a very wide area of blue (the good facets) through the center and
minimizes the red (mushy) areas. (Or go for a 4 main).
