I have a hard time taking good pictures too, but the best of my bad pictures are taken under very bright artificial or natural light with no flash. Then again my pictures aren''t that great
Macro settings (must have) - natural or artificial strong, indirect, diffuse lighting - no flash - major time-consuming fiddling about - and top off with lots of praying!
Also, I have a plain old point-and-shoot Nikon CoolPix, and it takes pretty decent macro shots. Make sure the shooting mode is on the macro setting (usually a flower) and push the button halfway down - the shutter should autofocus, and as long as you have steady enough hand, you should be ok. Make sure the ring or the camera is on a flat surface for the best pics. But my best macros have been while holding the ring in front of a window, and resting the hand holding the camera on a table. I let the lens try to focus a bit, push the button halfway, and once I''m happy with what I can see, I shoot.
Takes a ton of practice! I finally got it right on Sunday!
