Have spent a lot of time learning on Pricescope and am now ready to buy. I would appreciate opinions on the stone I''m looking at right now before I close the deal - diamond quality? value (price is about 11,ooo)? Here are the specs. I will try to attach pics as well. Thanks in advance!

too shallow.

And finally, here''s the ASET. Sorry I couldn''t figure out how to upload the pics together - my girlfriend usually takes care of that stuff but she doesn''t know about these!

Looking at these pics, my inexperienced eyes tell me that this stone is a) really bad; b) really good; or c) the pics weren''t done right. But you all know better than me so I welcome any informed and honest opinions, even if it means starting over.

I would also like to know if you have any recommendations for appraisers in the Connecticut area? Thanks everyone.

It''s not really bad. It''s not really good. All of the pictures together "make sense," so they weren''t done wrong. It''s not a PS quality stone, though.

Julie,

Thanks for the quick input. I recognize that it''s not nearly perfect H&A, and you mentioned it was to shallow. I''m not asking for a whole lesson, but is there something you see, either from specs or pics that jumps out at you as a negative - that says this isn''t going to look that great?

Thanks

Looks bad or maybe not done right. Too much obstructions as it is.

Right, what I see in the Ideal Scope picture is that the tips of the arrows have black "paddles" instead of coming to a perfect point at the circumference of the circle, and some black under the table. This is comparable to the blue colors in the ASET-there is more blue than there should be. This will make for a stone that looks a bit dark.

Any other thoughts from anyone?

I got it in to take a look at tonight. Looks good here in office light. Looking forward to checking it out in other settings.

Make sure to lean over it and block direct light, and look at it from about 8-10". It will go a little darker, you need to make sure you''re okay with this.

Yes, I noticed this too.

Check it out in lots of different lighting environment. If you are not a diamond nut then you may not be able t ospot what is lacking, you might need to compare it to a super ideal to really see the difference. Or maybe it won''t bug you. Me, I''m spending 11k, I want the best I can possibly get. Cut really makes a difference.

Thanks for the tips. I think it''s very pretty but I will try to compare it to something ideal.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something online with similar minimum specs (h, VS2, 1.5) within my budget (12,000)?
