Need opinions on these diamonds

Hi,

I'm a first time buyer looking to purchase an eye-clean 2.2ct to 2.5ct round cut diamond in the H to J colour range, around the USD15k mark. A local vendor in Sydney (Australia) has shown me a few options that he has confirmed with the supplier is eye-clean (and No BGM)

I understand the cut is most important and this is one area I'm struggling to fully understand, in particular the proportions/angles and whether there are any red flags that pop up from the GIA reports. It would be great to hear independent opinions on the cut and any other thoughts on the below diamonds.

Diamond 1: 2.39ct J SI1 - confirmed eye clean

Diamond 2: 2.30ct J VS2 - confirmed eye clean

Diamond 3: 2.30ct J SI1 - confirmed eye clean

Many thanks in advance for your help.

I would take the info from the GIA reports and plug into the HCA tool and eliminate any diamond that scores 2 or higher. This is just a rejection tool to narrow the scope of GIA XXX diamonds. Let us know your findings!

Thanks PintoBean

I've taken a look at the tool - Diamond 2 is by far the best (scored 1) whilst the others scored above 4. So based on this tool it looks like Diamond 2 is the winner. Although I'll need to read about more into the tool to see how much reliance I can place on it.

Have you seen a J in person?

I have seen a J in person. Ideally I'd like to get a H or I but the price step up is too much for me without compromising on other areas.

Once in a platinum / whitegold setting the difference between a H and J from top down view was almost indistinguishable to me. I could make it out slightly from a side view / bottom view but again once in a setting the side/bottom view beccameless noticeable.

Happy to hear your view on J's if you have one.

I'm no expert, but I just read through a very educational thread here that outlined a few tips about Diamond color and I think you would benefit from that. It's great to get expert advice from others on this forum, but it's even better when you can make those kind of decisions for yourself.

Sounds like an informative thread - do you mind sharing a link?

Diamond 2 for me. Lovely higher crown with a smaller table.

Here are some alternatives to choose from as I don't know what price you are paying for those diamonds;
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8577730-2.20-carat-Round-diamond-J-color-VVS2-clarity.aspx?sku=8577730&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Couldn't find much in budget at a higher colour I'm afraid

Theres also https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.21-carat-j-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2208054 but will really need an idealscope as the crown is 36, but much lower clarity than the above. It does have medium fluor which may help with the colour.

Good luck

are you sure you labeled those photos correctly? The first one is 2.39c and the second is really 2.30c?
Isn't the first photo 2.3c J VS2?

Thanks gm89uk, your suggestions are right in my price range. I've actually decided to change my parameters and go with an I grade diamond instead.

flyingpig you are 100% correct - I labelled the diamonds incorrectly in my OP. Excellent pick up and sorry all for the confusion.

Can anyone critique this diamond, do any red flags pop up from the images?
