please give me your input on the following stone:

2.02 ct
E
VS2
56 Table
61.1 Depth
Excellent Symetery
Excellent Polish
These are all of the spec''s that I have......Is this an exceptional stone???

whats the shape.............any sarin info available?

If this is a round brilliant we are talking about, it is impossible from the information given to tell whether or not this is an exceptional stone.

You need to obtain the crown and pavillion angles to get a real perspective. These are the most critical measurements of the diamond. Keep in mind that even with measurements you only know that the diamond is likely to be exceptional. You need to make sure the stone is pleasing to your eye in a variety of lighting conditions.

The specs you give are great. E color is nice and white. The 56 table and 61.1 depth are right where you want these to be.
Excellent polish and symmetry is nice to have as well.

The next step for you is to ask the vendor for a Sarin or Megascope report on the stone. Let us know what the rest of the measurements are.

this is all the information that I have available - yes it is a round brilliant

Not enough info

What you know indicates it could cost between
- $9k to $14k per carat
- $18k to $28k for the stone

The 50% price increase between the bottom and top end is driven by what the industry thinks is Exceptional $$ and exposed in info you don''t know.

Please get a copy of the sarin report and the certification before buying.

the price is $24 200.00
2.00 ct.
E colour
Table 56%
Depth 61.2
VS2 - one small inclusion that can be hidden with a claw - that is it - NO OTHER INCLUSIONS
8.15X8.17X4.99
GIA
excellent polish
excellent sym
thin to medium girdle

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??????

Unfortunately at this point you simply do not have the full picture. It is impossible to fully gauge the cut of a diamond from simply depth, table, polish, and symmetry.

What you know:

E.......good color.
VS2......inclusion is coverable
8.15-8.17....diameter is very round
Depth and table are where you want them to be
Girdle is of proper proportions
Polish and symmetry is excellent.

It would seem that most cutters would not take the time to be this precise and leave poor crown and pavillion angles, but it is possible. You truly need to obtain crown and pavillion measurements.

If obtaining these measurements is not possible, then you must rely on your eyes. You must take the stone into a variety of lighting conditions to fully assess its performance. If you are willing to shell out a bit more money, you should see if the seller offers a return policy and take this time to have the stone professionally appraised by an appraiser who does not sell diamonds. Most good appraisers can give you an idea of the measurements of the crown and pavillion angles.

" E, VS2" says the cutter had excellent material to work with

"Ex-Ex" on polish and symmetry means he had both good material to work with and rather high teck tools... the finish depends allot on them, aparently.

What the stone looks like depends allot on the proportions of the cut and those are not available. Top brilliance would make this one exceptional diamond indeed. There''s a whole list of D-E, VS stones... ''bet only a few come with top brilliance.

If you can''t get them for the jeweler, allot can be compensated by using an IdealSCope (= $30 toy telling you what the diamond does to light - how much is turned into brilliance and how much lost). Curious ?
