Ok so this is from a local store that I have bought from in the past and have been happy with. Narrowed it down to two stones and looking for advice/opinions on which is a better deal or stone based on all the factors.

1.28
F
SI1
EGL cert
7.15 - 7.11 x 4.21mm
Depth 59%
Table Width: 57%
Crown Height 13%
Pavillion Depth 43%
Girdle THN FAC
Polish Very Good
Symm Very Good
Culet none
Flour none
"premium cut"
$6,800

2)
Round Brilliant
Ideal cut (per store)
1.32
F
SI1
EGL cert
6.99 x 6.93 x 4.34mm
Depth 62.3%
Table Width: 60%
Crown Height: 15%
Pavillion Depth: 42%
Girdle: MED FAC
Finish Grade: Very Good
Proportion: very good
Flour: slight
$7,450

I know the descriptions are slightly different, but that is fron the sheets. Obviously I am a novice at this. Just by looking at them the 1.32 looks clearer and more brilliant to me. Store says is b/c of the slight flouresence. The diamonds will also come with an appraisal from their certified gemologist who is a GIA graduate?

Love to here some feedback. Thanks

By HCA, the secod stone is a "fiery brilliant" (FIC) - meaning a stone showing more dispersion than most. Otherwise, both sets of numbers sounds as good as they get!

I strongly doubt anyone can see any darn trace of 'slight" fluorescence without an UW lamp, but cut could make a difference and quite a few find FICs spectacular in their own right.

Here's a really good one!

The first stone is listed right here for $5800 (just run a PS search).

The second is not, but a 1.31 gets listed at $5700.

Wow thanks. They/we were looking at them under a sort of black light. Not sure if this is what you are talking about.
How do the prices sound?

Valeria pointed it out, but that actual first stone you listed is available on-line by a few vendors here at pricescope, with the lowest price being just under $5500. So, the price he gave you is about $1300 more for the first stone than you could get on-line, and the price increase looks to be about the same for the second stone. Some people prefer dealing with a local jeweler, and don't mind spending the extra money in order to deal with a B&M that you can develop a life-long relationship with and use for all your jewelry needs. I don't presume to tell you who to buy the stone from, but with this extra info, maybe the jeweler can lower his price a little, if possible, and if not, you can still always buy the setting from him and give him business that way, if you decide to save money by buying the stone on-line. It's a tough issue, because it doesn't seem fair that he could possibly lose a sale due to internet competition (without his added overhead costs)after he's already been showing you stones, but it also doesn't seem fair that you should have to pay more for a stone than another person might (unless you feel the extra personal service is worth the cost). By the way, they both look like well cut stones by the numbers, with the first stone being a BIC (brilliant ideal cut) and the second stone being an FIC (fiery ideal cut) according to the HCA. If you read pricescope's tutorial, it'll explain what those categorizations entail. Best of luck in your search.
