both have ags0 grading reports, which puts them in an elite group. if you like the idea of having the gcal report as well, then go with the second one. i''m sure you would be happy with either.

there is nothing wrong with bn. there are other services offered by certain vendors here that people feel are more important in this kind of purchase. it is a personal decision.

First of all , what are you looking for??? What is your price/size range?

From the two you listed, it seems like you are looking for a colorless stone with really good clarity. I think most people here are comfortable with relaxing the clarity and color grades a bit.

Did you do a search at the top of the page? Just put in your range of color/clarity/size and search by cut, because CUT is what will make your diamond look GREAT!!!!!

One option I came up with there is this one (an E colored stone):

www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/1567

I think Whiteflash also had some in the F VS2 range, which should also be fine.....if you are concerned about clarity issues, ask the seller to describe exactly why the stone receives the grade it does...

As for Blue Nile, I think they have had a reputation for being a bit more expensive, I''m not sure they have as trade-up policy (WF, GOG and some other PS vendors DO have these policies....you can check out their websites for more info.)...BN''s pricing might be getting more competitive now...you can compare in the price search....Also they often can''t provide as much information about the stones, such as actual pictures and idealscope images....but that could be changing, too.

I agree, AGS0, particularly the ones with newer reports, are a pretty safe bet! So you can buy those almost anywhere (with a return policy, just in case) and be safe.

I am also particular about clarity, but I can''t see inclusions with a 10x loupe in a VS1 (which is the lowest clarity I look for). So I''d have to say, out of the two you posted and the one Carlotta posted, I''d for sure pick the E VS1 from GoodoldGold. It is still a fine stone and you have the advantage of seeing more information on it. If you look at the Good Old Gold tutorial pages on the 4 C''s under color, you''ll see that you can''t tell the difference between a D or an E.

If you buy one, I hope you''ll come back and post pictures! It''s not often we get to see a high color and clarity H&A stone here!

I am looking for an ideal cut preferrably h&a, d-f color, 1-1.25 carat, up to 14k. I would perfer vvs2 clarity and up. I already input the diamonds above in the cut advisor and they are excellent.

and yes, I did do a search at the top of the page.

Relena,
I would not be too concerned with that first diamond not having a GCAL/Firescope. It has a new AGS report that takes light performance into account. I have bought 6 BN AGS 0 diamonds with the new AGS report and they all have exhibited great ideal scope/ASET/ and hearts and arrows views. I have these viewers but I bought these diamonds without knowing what the images would look like before hand. I have also bought an ACA that I have compared these diamonds to. Face up, all the AGS 0s I have are gorgeous and I would be hard pressed to say one is better than than the other. With the viewers, I can distinguish less light leakage, better symmetry, crisper arrows, better hearts, etc... between the diamonds But without these viewers, they all look very similar to me. But then again I don''t have a very discriminating eye. I cannot distinguish an F from a J face up and I cannot see an SI1 inclusion.

So yes, I like BN and I think you can find very good deals there if you look for them.

Wow! They both look fantastic! And I love the idea of a D-F VVS2+ 1+ carat diamond. To this day my mother adores her colorless, IF half carat diamond because my father wanted a diamond as perfect as their love, and nothing could ever take that diamonds place (or my father's) in her heart.

I think there are a couple of reasons people are less than inthused about bn. Most of their diamonds they don't have on hand so if you want to find out if a SI1 is eyeclean or not, of if non-AGS0 is sparkly then you could have a problem. It's mainly a lack of info on their virtual stones. People also think that their prices aren't quite as good, but I don't think that's true uniformly and I don't think it's a huge difference in price anyway. (IMO). My personal objection to bn is that I'm not that keen on their settings.

ETA: Personally I'd go for the larger F, IF diamond since it's also 1k less expensive, and you can use the perfect line.
