Need your thoughts on this Round Cut, I have put down a deposit to reserve the stone. Here is the infor from the GIA Report:

Measurements: 6.86-6.89 x 4.29MM
Carat Weight: 1.25
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Finish:
Polish Excellent
Summetry Excellent
Fourescence: None
Table Depth: 62.4%
Table Size: 56%
Crown Angle: 35.0
Crown Height: 15.5
Pavilion Angle: 41.0
Pavilion Depth: 43.5
Star Length: 50%
Lower Half: 75%
Girdle: Med to Slightly Thick (faceted 3.5%)
Cutlet: None

It has a small clear crystal, 2 pinpoints and an indented natural at the edge.

The jeweler is charging me $8500 for this stone. I think the HCA is a 2.3 which makes me wary, so your opinions counts. Thanks in advance

crown/pavilion could work depending on rounding, but 75lgf doesn't help. Worth buying your own IS and taking it in and having a look

You can buy one here.

Thritto.

I did look under an IS while I was there, and to be honest I couldn''t tell if I was looking at something good or not. I was able to see the H&A and a decent amount of red

What are the negative ramifications of a 75 lower half?

It is possible that these could encourage light leakage in a 35/ 41 angle combo but its really not as simple as any one factor, depending on overall cut precision the stone might be ok, but the best way to find out is to inspect it carefully yourself and obtain an Idealscope as this will help show any leakage. Also look for a dark ring around the table or dark areas on the surface of the stone and check it out in plain daylight to make sure the stone still appeals to you.

just wondering if there are potential issues how this got an EX on symmetry from GIA?

Lab Symm grade has no correlation to cut performance.

I guess I should''ve asked, if a stone is GIA reported as an EX cut/polish/symmetry - how can it have a weak fiery/scintallating light performance? Thanks

lab grades physical symmetry - facet meetpoints, junctions. H&A is based on optical symmetry - how those facets reflect and refract light. If you have a perfectly physically symmetric diamond with excellent finish that is 5cm in diametre and 0.5cm deep, it's going to be a piece of glass.

GIA "EX" cut is a range with more and less pleasing combos to different people. It won't be terrible. It may or may not be great - that depends on the numbers.
