Thanks. I guess its really two questions, one of which that directly answers. First, the best way to evaluate if its oily/milky? The answer seems to be shaded sunlight. Two, when I take the diamond in direct sunlight is it going to look "bluer" than it did in the shaded sunlight? I ask because it didn''t look "blue" at all in the shade - I would hate to be surprised how it looks in direct sunlight.

This thread might help with your second question. There are a bunch of pictures of stones with and without fluorescence in and out of full sun.

Basically all diamonds sometimes look blue outdoors because they reflect the sky. Those with SBF can look bluer.

Actually many diamonds look bluish in direct sunlight, regardless of fluoro. The sky is blue, the stone reflects the sky, so it looks bluish/violetish. My two OECs go a bit dark and very blue and neither is fluorescent at all. So yes, almost undoubtedly it will go bluish under direct sunlight, but it might have nothing to do with fluoro at all.

Here''s a couple pics of strong flo in the sun. As for Gary saying shaded sun, he (and now rockdoc) are the only experts on here I''ve ever heard say that. I''m not saying they''re wrong, just saying....

I would say, if you want to be sure what it looks like in direct sunlight, put it in direct sunlight to see.

This is a K, second is a G. The first really shows the lavender affect it can cause.

i think the first (the K) looks great in the sun. The second one looks a bit lavenderish.

You think the second pic shows more lavender? I see it the opposite (first one)! lol But I like them both.
