Etsy is similar to ebay in that it is an online marketplace which has various sellers. So the quality will vary significantly depending on the listing. But there are certainly some high-end gems on there. Worth it to take a look!

Soooo... i realize I am not a gemstone girl. I also cant spell padparadscha and have to google it every time i need to type it.

2 carat heated GRS orange pink Padparadscha sapphire. Loose! Comes with GRS cert. I really love it, but I bought it forever ago and I am just not a gemstone girl... LOL. The good news is you're getting a steal of a price for a PAD!!

$5500 comes with GRS cert, i didnt see any GRS pads this color for less than $8k

Contact me for videos because its a gorgeous color, but you know how it is when you try to take gem pics. The last pic is the vendor pic.

What kind of certificate?

I really can’t tell from photos. It does look remarkably clean but then they are very clean sapphires around.

I would trust GFCO. I have quite a few stones with both Lotus and GFCO reports. They might differ on location and colour specifics but the basics are always correct. I like getting both reports on my higher value stones so that I can feel more comfortable relying on GFCO for my less expensive stones.

I think there is a very large window. It would be easier to see if you put it between tweezers. I think you have somehow got to get your wife's opinion on stones with windows because for me, that is all I see. It ruins the entire stone for me.

Again, this is all up for interpretation, but in my opinion, that is not a padparadscha by any stretch of the imagination. Now if you like the color, that's one thing. Congrats, admire him for what he is, and enjoy! But I'm confident that none of the major institutions would certify this stone as a pad. I've seen reports from this lab around, and I don't doubt they can probably decipher one gem from another, or a synthetic from a natural, or even basic heat, with relative ease. But certain treatments? I'm less confident. This stone may very well be untreated. But it could also be beryllium diffused (they abound in this particular shade), and that becomes tricky. This is because the process can introduce coloring agents deep into the stone, making the treatment harder to detect than with older, shallower diffusion methods. More advanced gemological techniques are required, such as LIBS. Now, in all honestly, I would be more worried about this if it said "heat only," because the method does require high heat, and that should be readily detectable. In any event, judging solely by what I'm seeing in your photos, this is a brownish-reddish-orange sapphire. And the color is very pretty! It's just not a pad (again, IMO). May I ask the weight and how much you paid?
