Hey guys, need help on choosing a diamond. 1st time buyer.

I have decided to shop at White Flash as they have the setting I want.

Need help choosing a Princess cut or Round. I definitely want a Ideal cut diamond. My budget is $5000 on the diamond.

Here are 2 that have caught my eye.

Any thoughts guys? Or any other suggestions on another diamond?\

Thanks

Hi Jay...why do you say round or princess but you only have princess cuts listed? Usually people who want a princess cut do not
want rounds...so I guess the question is did your GF say what she wanted or ask for a princess (or a round)?

Edit...do you need to be so high on color for any reason...this would be my choice $5027 wire

For a round
This is an ES H...may be too low color for you?

ACA G

ACA F if you need higher color

Of the two you posted I actually like the faceting on the .86 better (has some bigger facets) but that's personal preference. Can they
do a video for the .95? I'm not sure why it doesnt have one.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply.

I know she likes both Round and Princess and does not like any of the fancy cuts. That's why I said either or. I just see you get a bigger Diamond with Princess for the money. That's why I am leaning towards Princess.

With colour, I could go to an H but would like to stay with G and above. Also with SI's, she has a Ruby that she can see the inclusion and she hates it. That's why I'm trying to stay with a VS2 or better.

You get more carat weight with princess cuts but actually a SMALLER diamond if you look at the DIMENSIONS, which is the most important (princess cuts are deeper). The 1.021 princess cut that tyty listed is 5.47x5.39x4.06mm while the .836 round tyty listed is 6.03x6.05x3.74 mm. That will be a VERY noticeable difference on the finger! I would suggest snooping around a bit more to find out what she really wants. Princess cuts are fairly outdated so I wouldn't suggest going with that unless she has specifically requested one. Round is classic, but not everyone loves them either.

To add to what AC117 said the face up surface area of the two diamonds are very similar
The princess cut has an area of 29.4 sq mm
The RB has an area of 28.6 sq mm
So as far as light return is concerned they have a similar area to work with.
But I think the round brilliant looks larger as it has a wider spread over a finger than the princess cut. Now if the princess cut was orientated on a 45º angle on the finger then it would most likely look larger than the round brilliant as it would have more spread at 7.68mm from point to point. It's all about optical illusions.
