Hi, I am new to the forum and was hoping that I could get some help with some diamonds. I have been reading up on the 4 c's, certifications and ideal proportions. Currently I am looking at 3 diamonds, 2 of which are Forevermark diamonds.
All three diamonds are round diamonds. These diamonds would be for a solitaire diamond setting.
The first diamond is IGI certified. From searching the web and talking to some jewellers, it sounds like IGI is not as stringent as GIA. The IGI cert is dated from 2004, is that an issue? The IGI cert has the following specs:
Natural Diamond
Round Brilliant
1.02 ct
Measurement: 6.57 - 6.63 x 3.95mm
VS 2
G color
Polish and Symmetry: Excellent
Proportions: Excellent
Table Diameter: 58%
Crown Height: 14%
Pavilion Depth: 44%
Girdle Thickness: Thin to Medium (FAC.)
Culet Size: Pointed
Comments: Hearts & Arrows, "Ideal Cut"
The two Forevermarks are as follows:
Forevermark Diamond #1:
1.07ct
Color: E
Fluorescence: Negligable
SI1
Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Table width: 55.2%
Crown Height: 15.6%
Pavilion Depth: 43.1%
Girdle Thickness 2%
Forevermark Diamond #2:
1.00ct
Color: G
Fluorescence: Faint
VS2
Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Table width: 57%
Crown Height: 15.1%
Pavilion Depth: 43.4%
Girdle Thickness 1.9%
The IGI certified diamond and the Forevermark Diamond #2 are about the same price, and the Forevermark Diamond #1 is slightly more expensive ($500). Any comments would be welcome!
