Prefeace - I''m sure I''m attaching the photos wrong, hopefully a moderator can straighten it out.

So I''m trying to find a nice size princess cut in the $8K budget range. Size is most important to her but I still want to get a nice diamond so I''m trying to get the best of both worlds really. I''ve narrowed it down to a few and I''d really appreciate any input you guys can give. Which of them you prefer, or what you like/dislike about each one. Thanks again in advance!

Diamond 1 - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1256386.asp

(ASET is attached)
This looks to be a good diamond, and from a complete newbies standpoint the ASET looks good. Maybe 2 much green? especially compared to the diamond below.

Diamond 2 - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6519/

-I think the ASET looks good on this one? Not sure about the white in the center, but there is lots of red. The other reason I''m looking at this other diamonds...can I get a still very good cut but bigger size?

Diamond 3 - http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Loose_Princess_Cut_Diamond-144/Loose_Princess_Cut_1.8_Carat_I_Color_VS1_Clarity_diamond-413665.html

- This is a signature ideal cut by excel''s standard. Unfortunately Judah do does not have the crown angle for this diamond but he said its very nice.

Diamond 4 - http://www.abazias.com/database/NewDiamondInfo.asp?stock=1700703061&src=builder

- They do not have an ASET as its a virtual diamond, but it is an AGS ideal. Is abazias a good vendor? Also, how do the rest of the numbers on this diamond look? Seems like a nice diamond and good price for 1.89CT.

The GOG diamond looks good, is it on hold for you?

Yep I have it on hold.

How do the other diamonds compare though?

I asked my GF last night if she had a choice between a 1.2 CT diamond of great quality or a 1.35 CT diamond of good quality, she''d rather have the 1.35. This makes me think I should disregard the GOG since it''s the smallest even though its great quality. I refuse to sacrifice TOO much quality though.

From what information you have, I would rate the three with images as

1) GOG--beautiful, the small spot in the center is normal in some well cut princess, but is really not visible IRL.
2) JA--above average, but not really showing outstanding performance in the ASET
3) Excel--ASET is comparable to the JA stone, but length/width is right at the point that it could be noticibly rectangular instead of square.

I guess I'm thinking you just suggested a 1.2 vs 1.35 to your gf, so why not get the top performing 1.57, she is surely not expecting that size at this point, right?

Any other thoughts between the GOG and the JA?
