Richard should be able to put some sparkle into your diamond. Only he can tell you how much it will weigh after he is done cutting. The "cloud" around the girdle is probably a frosted girdle which is not a bad thing. Richard's cutter will probably facet the girdle and get rid of the frosting. They will thin out the girdle, close the table and whatever else needs to be done to make your diamond smile in the Firescope.
If you think your diamonds does not sparkle now, I would think twice about trillions on the side. They hardly sparkle at all and dull out very quick when they get a little dirty. Small ideal cuts on the sides with the same color will be the thing.
how exciting..i'd be interested to hear how the re-cutting goes if you decide to do it and also around how much $ it is...my diamond has a larger table too (but shallower depth). leon mege's settings are beautiful--i personally think if you get the diamond recut you should go with the sparkliest types of side stones to compliment the new center stone. stick to rounds or maybe radiants.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I really needed some reassurance that this stone was salvagable. I have read so many threads where someone mentions that they had their stone recut and it is like night and day! B-I-G difference
I'm hoping for that effect on my stone
Dream setting would be something like the 3 round brilliant stone on Harry Winston site. The center has claw foot(?) prong and 4 prong for both sides. I would attach here but you can't! Their site is all flash...Anyway, they don't say the tcw for the setting but it is so pretty! I also like this setting if the stones were round instead of oval...I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ATTACH IT TO THIS...SORRY
Leon Mege can do the clawfoot..someone else on here is considering them (kayla maybe?) and noted that his pricing is very reasonable! Something like around or under $1k for a custom made basic type clawfoot solitaire (with some embellishment maybe)...which is really great for custom IMO. So you may be able to swing something basic and cool with the clawfoot and 3 stones. Yum!
Oh BTW on your side stones...start looking around at jewelry stores for PRESET 3 stone rings and see what sort of combos you like. Do you like it when the center stone looks significantly larger than the side stones, or do you want them to aall appear a little closer? For example if you had the stone recut to something like 1.25c..then you could get small side rounds that are around . 30c each and the center stone would really shine and look bigger. Or you could get larger rounds along the lines of .50c each and the center stone would look different. There is a huge visual difference depending on your side stones, check out some preset settings around your town to find out which you like best.
Thanks for the suggestions. I can actually visit the diamond district in NY (actually, Leon is right there too!)and check out what is already made on the strip. I really think I prefer when the center is larger but not that much larger than the side stones. I have several friends that have the 3 stone ring as an e-ring and most of their side stones are much smaller. This is why I am not sure what size I should get. I know that I can't swing buying 2 - 1ct stones for the side though!
Really wish I knew how to attach images here. The HW one is gorgeous. The proportion is great too. Also, the selection on Leon's site is amazing too. Just that he does not have a 3 stone round I can compare to. The rings on his site have HUGE stones
