Greetings!

I need some help. I am in the market for a pair of custom wedding bands. However, I don't know how to effectively communicate to a jeweler what I am looking for.

I'll attempt to explain:

I would like to have two rings made from the same batch of molten metal so that they are effectively made of identical material. An analogy would be making two pancakes from the same bowl of batter. I don't know the correct terminology for such a technique.

If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

I am wondering if you know for certain that your rings will be cast rather than wire formed or forged? If its a simple, traditional band, I think it would likely be formed from a wire, and then you would ask your jeweler to make both rings from the same piece of wire. Assuming the two bands are of different size (say one is a 4mm D wire, and the other 2.5mm?), I believe this would require that the wire stock used on the larger band then be put through a rolling mill to reduce the size to the smaller specification.

Maybe someone from the Trade can give you a better answer, though.
