Need Help With Finding a Diamond

I was in Robbin Brothers for the first time today and all of their diamonds are very expensive.

The salesman showed me some of their "E3" diamonds and told me lab diamonds could be up to 50% cheaper.

Is this true? I am just looking for a 1.85-2 carat diamond for an engagement ring. The salesman showed me a 2.1 J color SI1 for $15,000, could I find a better price online? I am having a hard time finding the E3 diamonds for sale other at stores other than Robbin Brothers.

Robbins Brothers has a trademark on the term "E3" and they use it to designate diamonds that are grown rather than mined. Many other places sell these diamonds too, you'll just find them being called lab diamonds, lab-created, grown, synthetic, man-made, etc. Grown diamonds are typically less expensive than comparable mined diamonds, though $15,000 is still pricey for a 2.1ct J SI1 grown diamond.
