My dad stopped wearing a wedding band years ago because of his line of work, but earlier this year he retired. He mentioned to me today that he would like to wear a wedding band again and wanted for me to try to find one for him. He is in his early 60's and spends most of his free time fishing on his boat so he just wants a basic yellow gold band. I'm thinking either completely plain or with some milgrain. He doesn't have a huge budget. I'd say ideally less than $400. I want him to get something comfortable and sturdy as he has arthritis in his hands. Any vendors you'd recommend? I've been looking on eweddingbands.com but I didn't know their quality and was hoping someone would let me know if they have done business with them. Also what are the benefits of 14k vs 18k yellow gold? Any recommendations? Thanks!

DH and I got our wedding bands from e-weddingbands.com and that's what I always recommend to engaged friends for wedding bands. We were impressed how quickly the bands came after we placed our order, considering we both have weird ring sizes (5.25 for me, 6.75 for him). As for 14k vs. 18k, either would be fine, I think, 18k just has a higher amount of gold than 14k, which has more alloys. I think comfort-fit would be the way to go with his arthritis, like either of these:

If he hasn't recently, he should probably have his finger sized, especially with arthritis. He'll want to make sure he can comfortably get a band of whatever width he wants over his knuckle.

Thanks for your help Rubybeth! I am so happy to hear from someone who has worked with ewedding bands. I really like the milgrain one you posted! I agree the comfort fit is probably going to be the way to go. I am going to go with him to get him sized as I want to be sure that he isn't going to go too tight or something. I wonder if sizing milgraining down the road will be a problem, so I may encourage him to go with the plain one if that is the case.

we bought Dh's band from Apples of Gold not milgrain but a hammered finish, anyways
here is a milgrain one. Good company
