Hi everyone! I am looking into upgrading my rose gold e-ring with a diamond (right now I have a champagne/blush sapphire and I love the color but want more sparkle). I found a nice-sized Color Grade: K-L diamond already set in a ring and was wondering how it might look in a rose-gold setting? The ask is around $2,500k for a 1.26 ct ring. Is that reasonable? The Clarity Grade: is SI2-I1. This is the paperwork that was posted on the consignment site:
If this isn't a good idea, where else should I look? Thanks!

There are great deals to be had at consignment shops if you are patient and open to all the wonderful possibilities. I can’t speak on this diamond in particular bc I feel as though you may need to see with your own eyes and play in different lighting to know it’s characteristics. Could they send more/better pics? This could be a dud or a beautiful diamond. From the paperwork it could be a pass, but you never know. Good return policy?
Your current ER sounds pretty. May I see a pic of it?

Thanks for your reply! I can return this ring for a refund, so maybe it is worth it to see it in person? This is my current ring: IMG_2754 (1).JPG

What a beautiful ER! I love pink/blush stones!
Do you have a loupe? I wonder with the clarity if it’s even eye clean. I tend to pull the trigger on things then return if not completely satisfied so I may be the wrong person to ask if you should still buy or not!

i wouldn't buy a diamond without a certification, or at least much more detail than an appraisal. The info from the one you are considering is not enough (IMHO).

Your ering is beautiful!

The cut of this stone is ??? You have no good pictures to use to evaluate the stone. It could be an I1 with a nasty dark inclusion across
the table...who knows??? Just not enough info.

Lets see if we can find a larger certified stone for you. Its not going to be 1.26 though.

Do you have additional funds for the rose gold setting?

Edit...could you do something besides round? Ovals and marquise tend to face up bigger.

agreed! Also, 1.26 is meaningless without knowing the diameter of the stone. The one OP found is 1.26ct weight, but my guess is that they didn't put the mm diameter for a reason....and they only showed the one pic for a reason.

I think you need a lot more information to consider that stone. I wouldn't be able to make a decision on that.

Better photos, and multiple photos, would be best, unless you are buying in person. $2500 for that carat weight in a well cut stone, is not the normal price at retail, but I understand this is second hand.

This is a complete ring, that is near that budget, that looks a little prettier to me.

Your original ring is so pretty!
I also wouldn't buy this ring without more info. TBH, the setting is pretty standard so I'd consider putting your money towards a stone via a vendor and have it set in a similar setting. That way you can choose the right stone, have a certification and see any inclusion that may exist with a SI1/2 if that's the grade you choose. I would want to know more about a stone that's graded SI2/I1 before buying it.

Just wondering if you put up your original ring for sale?

No, but I will. Any suggestions of where to do that? Thanks!

Many folks here use Loupe Troop! I would search James Allen, Blue Nile, Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, and reach out to the other Pricescope vendors to see if they can help you find a stone that matches what you are looking for!

I agree with looking elsewhere. The diamond seems to be quite poorly cut, included and strong fluorescence can make diamonds go hazy. I think I’d go for a higher quality diamond even if a little smaller.

that phiti looks like it's from the real real site. i dont think their listings are always accurate, you'd need to get it in hand and have it evaluated by a gemologist. they do have a good return policy though.

ps love your sapphire ring!

When doing a search on James Allen, it looks like you can get a round, 1.2ct, XXX, M, VS for around $3100. Some have a nice champagne/brown undertone which would look lovely when set in rose gold!

Another thought/option if you are open to lab diamonds and something around 1ct is resetting a Lightbox diamond. You could do either a colorless or a pink diamond which would be very unique. You could add side stones, or a halo to get more finger coverage!

The reason I asked is because I came across a second hand website with your exact photo & wondered if they took it from here.
I searched my history & found it - a website called "I do now I dont" ; search pink sapphire & they have your photo & claim it's for sale.
